I just noticed you mentioned ARES in your top 10! How cool, ty man!

Guess I don't have to plug it in haha

I've tried to make time to check some games, but I may have to wait for the weekend. I've played a few only, and the one I remember enjoying a lot is Paintocalypse, very fun and lots of charm: https://thepropagation.itch.io/paintocalypse, don't know if it has been mentioned.

EDIT: Wait, you made that, haha good job then!

I tried to make things intuitive, bur as far as I've seen, I may have ways to go still, haha. I'm really excited to hear you enjoyed it!
The theme may be a bit subtle at first, but it gets more evident as you keep progressing.

Thank you for playing it and taking the time to comment!

Haha, you had me cursing at barrels. Very nice game and a lot of fun in rush mode. The challenge felt really well balanced, good work! This would be an amazing multiplayer game!

I had a grin the whole time I was playing this, it's oozing charm! The complete and outlandish despair from the NPCs never got old haha.

You have a very valuable framework for a really good casual game here. I read in your comments you were a bit unsure on what music would fit, if I may suggest, I loved the humor that comes from the painter being completely unfazed by the panicking crowd, maybe double down into this with stereotypical classical music or something classy, like he truly believes in his art.

Such a nice thing to say, I really appreciate it! There was a lot of effort put into presenting an interesting story, I'm very happy to hear you liked it! Do let me know if you need any pointers, I'd love to hear your opinion on the ending.

Haha, yes! That's exactly what I was going for, the feeling of improvisation and just trying for the sake of trying. How nice to hear you enjoy my silly projects, thank you for taking the time to comment!

I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I do intend to finish this one, I really liked how it turned out.
As for the bad ending, I bet is the sentinel getting destroyed one. I didn't do a good job explaining it at all. It's basically a choose the correct choice thing, with the 'drone status report' giving you a hint of which one is. The hint is too vague though, I goofed there haha, but the hint/answer pair is always the same, so you can eventually learn the answer.
Thank you again for testing it!

What a cute game, very endearing. Siempre hay un chileno wn.

Hello there!

If you're reading this, you are amazing, and quite handsome. I know this, because you played (or are intending to play) this little indie game prototype called ARES.

Made for the Pirate Software game jam in the span of two weeks, it required quite a bit of trimming down in order to meet the deadline. Many features I had envisioned (and thought of during development) had to be postponed.

Well, postponed can mean right away, and here I am. I'm currently working on ARES 2.0, with all the features originally envisioned and more. And since I'm just one gamer goblin scrambling pieces of code together, I ask for your help. Yes, you.

I just learned about the community thingy here in Itch.io, so I image it'd be more appropriate for this purpose.

So, what would really help ARES' development?

Leave in this post any of the following:

- Any bug you've encountered or any behavior you're not sure it was intended.

- Any suggestion on what work/ didn't work. Any annoyance you want to curse me for, or any great convenience you want to curse me for and ensure I don't remove it.

- Grammar Misteaks, or ortogiraffical errors. I'm not a native English speaker, so while I may catch some Mrs. Pellings, it's very likely there are some strange sentences in there that sound off.

- What would you like to see? What would you like for me to avoid? What? Huh?

- How was your day?

I'm always checking out for replies, so don't be a stranger and let me know what's on your mind.

Take care!

Talk about polish! What a solid game, very well put together. I have the reflexes of a wooden plank, so I greatly appreciated the player HP setting. Trying again is so smooth and quick, it's hard to stop trying. Excellent game!

Nice game! I liked the graphics, they have this old windows games style. The spells having to be drawn is a neat idea, but I keep finding myself struggling to get the fire one. Like, don't ask me to make straight lines haha. Also, it took me a while to get the blue card.

I kept getting game overs with enough time left, and I'm still not sure why. Maybe I was too enthralled watching things burn, very satisfying. I wasn't the council favorite person, though.

Overall is a nice idea with an endearing look. I liked it!

haha yes, the 'loading' screen. At some point I scrapped them but it felt really weird for things to just pop up. I definitely should make them faster. Thank you for playing! Balancing a puzzle game is a true challenge when you already know the answers, so it helps a lot to know where players get stuck.

Thank you for playing it! I'm really glad you enjoyed it! I was going for the "spreading virus" angle, but it may have been lost in translation. Do let me know where it looped, I caught a few very last minute bugs that I fixed just minutes before the deadline, so I'm interested in checking if there's something else I didn't catch.

Simple, enjoyable game. Really liked the artstyle. Great job!

I've no idea what's going on, but it's mesmerizing. You could attach some really neat extra gameplay to this.

I'm thrilled to hear you enjoyed it! I'm still struggling to find the time to revisit this project, there's so much I want to add to this. Thank you very much for your comment, you've made my day!

That's useful feedback; I had noticed it was overwhelming the player bit too much, when the game was supposed to be taken lightly, just choosing whatever to see what yields. Thanks for playing it! Maybe check in a few days if you've got the time, I do intend to release a revision now that the jam is over!

It took me a sec to realize I was supposed to bounce of the walls, but once I did I got hooked. Very fluid motion and nicely placed difficulty. I enjoyed it a lot, good job!

The gameplay was a bit repetitive, but the art and concept is very well put together. Very impressive, well done.

Very nice! Simple and entertaining, well done.

Thanks for playing it! I agree, it needs a proper tutorial. I'm working on adding more content to cover some of its shortcomings.

Indeed it was a lot of dialogue! Thanks for giving it a go!

Nice game, I liked  it. Truly moved by the intro sequence. I'm glad you decided to take it with humor. Aquaman stole my win. I would love to see it polish if you intend to do so!

It looks nice. It's a tried and classic gameplay, so I can't really give you much feedback there, but the visuals are nice and I ran into no issues while playing it. The ship feels too slow, in my opinion, but I really liked the physics for the asteroids and the controls were very responsive. Nice one!

I really liked your visual style! The game flows well and looks solid. It's a simple concept performed really well. Very challenging for me, haha.

Good job! It's a fun concept. It took me a few tries to realize what was going on, so I agree that it needs a bit more explanation. I liked it regardless!

Creative concept. It's silly enough to be endearing. Would love to see it expanded with different famous shots.

Well, it's a game alright. There's an attempt gameplay there, but everything seems intentionally designed to be a joke, so I don't even know if feedback is even appropriate. In case it was not, I could see it being a game, the concept is there, just needs a polish. Any.

Nice one! Took me a sec to figure it out, but once you do it's catching. I'm still not sure if there was a limit to how many tiles you could place? Nice touch with the scoreboard! Would love to see it expanded.

Thank you for the feedback! It was quite a beast to complete in three days, a lot of quality of life features had to be cut, and actor hiring was one of them! I'm glad you enjoyed it, I wasn't very sure about this one to be honest.

Good, simple game! I agree with what others said, falling off spawning you seamlessly into the start is such a small detail that's really effective. I also noticed that as long as you touch a platform, you can jump mid-air. I don't know if it was intended, but it kinda made the game more interesting!

I was a bit uncomfortable with the view space (dunno if that's what's called), I found myself guessing where the next platform is sometimes, so it would benefit if you could lower it a bit.

A solid start. You managed to convey your intentions well, and that's the backbone of any game. Good work!

I appreciate the feedback. I agree that pacing needs an improvement. The goal was a simple score challenge; you get a different ending based on how much gold you have once every location is done. Of course I would've love to expand on this, and may have the chance to do so soon hopefully.

Thank you very much! This has been a very enjoyable game jam, lots of great games around!

Thanks for the feedback! Too easy or too hard? Balancing is one of those things that's really hard when working solo so I'm not surprised at all I didn't get it right.

Yeah, I can see how It'd get a bit confusing if many webs are in place. Honestly, I was surprised on how well was the spider pathing, I didn't have a moment were it went somewhere unintended

Nice game, very fun! I could definitely see this being expanded. I would've like to be able to use the keyboard to move the spider, but the pathing was working really well.

It definitely was. Since this is my first game jam, I was definitely overly-ambitious with what I could do with the time I had, but decided to pull through as a learning experience. Boy, this thing ate my whole weekend.

Good puzzles and good fun! I'd love to see more levels, a nice concept. I had the hardest of times trying to fit in the same platform as the box though, haha.

Changed me life.
