yea would love to see some of your work. any experience animating monsters?

Hello Game Artist,

My name is Ben and I am the lead (only) designer at Escape Pod Studios. We are in the middle of our first major (non jam) game called core runner and we are in need of another artist to help get us to the finish line. Will be a labor of love until game release in October 2023 then we will give you a cut of profits or make you a permanent team member with salary.

awesome i sent you a friend request

that was epic lol i think that works great! do you have discord?

the version that is currently up was for a 24 hr jam. very rushed and we just grabbed some free to use stuff from youtube. we are currently making a more fleshed out version with more levels, enemies, dynamic gameplay...etc. since everything else is custom made (art and code) I think it would be cool to have some custom music as well.

whats up my friend! we are looking for some cool music for our game! message me and let me know

We are making a game called Core Runner. You play as a pilot flying your ship through various levels like asteroids, planets, high tech facilities. The game is still in early stages! We would like some cool music and sound effects! If you think you are up for it let us know! No payment yet but we plan on releasing the game on steam you'll receive equal cut.

Thanks!

Thank you for letting us know about the freeze - let us know if you get any additional info on it. We intend to revisit this and already logged a couple bugs we may have to investigate.

Thank you so much for the kind comments! We did notice that people had difficulty locating the recipes on the dialog, and that they felt they were being timed. Currently there is no punishment for taking your time, but it was part of the original design, which is why it probably feels that way. Taking note of your feedback, I think we'll end up adding a timer, incorporating time to the score, but also pausing that timer when reading dialog - that should give players a chance to enjoy the dialog and "chill" for a minute. We have seen comments and noticed ourselves that the matching can be difficult, even after trying to add visual and audio cues - so we will definitely be taking that back to the drawing board a bit. I like the idea of some items taking longer - we were talking about a second minigame for the magical portion of the crafting, but had to cut it for time - we will be revisiting this one in the future though. Thanks again for the feedback - cheers!

Thank you for the feedback - we tried to add visual scaling and sound cues to make the timing easier, but we did note that it is still a little difficult, even for ourselves lol! The game does slow down the cycling speed as you let it play, eventually it will force a failure - but we do intend to reconsider a way to make the matching a little easier, even if it's some tricky psychological thing, like "coyote time" - or basically a tolerance on the correct symbol.

Thank you for the thoughtful comment - we truly appreciate it! It's true there is no punishment for taking your time, and unfortunately we were only able to get 4 customers in. We definitely have plans to expand on this one, there are technically 64 item recipes programmed into it, just only 4 used by orders from customers (However you can craft the other recipes if you stumble upon them). We will be adding more customers, and more variety, including a second minigame for adding the magical aspects to a basic weapon recipe which we had to cut early on to make sure we had time for 1 relatively polished minigame. Thanks again for the feedback!

Thank you for the feedback - it really helps us to identify the main issues. We are planning on polishing this up over the next month and already have quite a list of changes we'd like to make, including making the goal much more obvious, as well as bugs, and some additional features/levels. Thanks again, hopefully the next iteration will have these improvements.

Much appreciate the playthrough! We'll be fixing this up over the next month if you want to try it again with some more polish. Playthroughs like this help us immensely in seeing where the design fell flat and where it needs to improve

Thanks! We plan to polish this up and bugfix it over the next month before moving on to a new project. Glad you liked it!
