thank you very much! :)

thank you!

Thank you!

thank you!

Thanks for playing and pointing out the battery issue! I'll have to upload a fix for that soon.

Thank you for checking out the game and uploading your playthrough, I appreciate it! And yes, I've been looking into getting this on Steam and will probably get that process started fairly soon! :)

Thank you for playing! I do have plans for new locations and ghosts, and I have the rest of the story planned out as well. It's just a matter of time and resources to create the full game, so keep an eye out for updates! :)

No plans for Android at the moment, sorry!

Thank you!

Thank you for playing and for the rating as well, I really appreciate it! I'm very glad to hear that you enjoyed the game. :)

thank you! :)

Hi everyone! After about a month and half of working on Invocation, I've just released the final version of the demo. This demo includes the first level of the game, and takes about half an hour to complete. Aside from small bug fixes or quality of life updates, there will not be any more major updates to this build. Check it out here: https://echochvmber.itch.io/invocation

The objective of this demo is to take photographs of ghosts who hide in various rooms of the level. The ghost can only be seen through the viewfinder of the player's camera. The player will sometimes need to solve environmental puzzles in order to find ghosts.

Some ghosts will become hostile when seen in the viewfinder, and will attempt to attack the player. If the player is attacked too many times, their sanity will be depleted and they will lose the match and have to restart. There is one level included in this demo with four cases to choose from.

Thanks, everyone! :)

Hi everyone! I've been working solo on a game called Invocation: Ghost Photography (https://echochvmber.itch.io/invocation) for a while now, and I've recently released a new demo build with some major updates. You can watch a playthrough of it here, (note: this video does not include a short outro which was recently added to the demo):

The demo for this game is close to being in a finalized state, but I would love for anybody who is interested to check it out and leave their thoughts in the comments or in a review. I'll leave more information about the demo below, taken from the game's main page. If you're reading this, thank you very much for checking out this project, and I hope you give the demo a playthrough as well. Thanks, everyone. :)

Invocation is a First-Person Ghost Photography Simulator. Play as a paranormal investigator and explore haunted locations across the town of Echo Canyon. This game is currently in active development, the build attached to this page is a demo which takes between 15-30 minutes to complete.

Sarah Winstead is killed in a car accident at a very young age, and awakens to find herself lost in dark labyrinth called the Otherside. Searching for a way back, Sarah encounters a powerful creature which promises to take her back to the world of the living, but at a price she will only come to know much later. Desperate, Sarah agrees, and is quickly revived. She awakens once again in a hospital bed, embraced by her parents who were assured by doctors that she would not survive.

Years later, Sarah has recovered from her car accident, but is still grappling with her near death experience. She believes that her brief escapade into the afterlife has awakened her ability to feel the presence of ghosts who wander amongst the living. She finds herself frequently disturbed by the many spirits who latch onto her, believing that she can somehow return them back to life.

Sarah moves with her family to Echo Canyon, a place where spirits pour out of a rift between the real world and the Otherside. The dark energy terrorizes the residents of Echo Canyon, many of whom are driven insane or killed under mysterious circumstances.

Determined to find and seal the rifts to the Otherside, Sarah teams up with an amateur ghost hunter named Jacob. Jacob has long searched for the spirit of his deceased sister, Lily, but has yet to find even a trace her. Recognizing Sarah's potential as someone who can locate spirits, Jacob lends Sarah his ghost hunting equipment and guides her in tracking down the spirits coming from the Otherside.

In this demo, Sarah investigates the Blackwell House, believed to be inhabited by many of these dark spirits.

This demo features the following:

  • An immersive level for the player to explore.
  • Four paranormal cases to take on.
  • Four ghostly enemy types.
  • A ghost-hunting gameplay system with the following tools:
    • A camera to take photos of ghosts.
    • A radar for detecting the distance of the closest ghost.
    • A spirit box for listening to otherworldly messages from the static.
  • An inventory system and collectible items.
  • A retro, PSX visual style.
  • Custom-made low poly 3D assets.
  • Atmospheric sound design.
  • A small fraction of a much larger story.

As this game is in development, there will be frequent updates released here. Consider following me on other socials if you would like to keep up with new features.

Hey! I've released an update for my game demo called Invocation, a PS1 style ghost hunting game! In Invocation, play as a paranormal investigator who is tasked with taking photos of the spirit haunting her client's home. The player can use a variety of ghost hunting tools such as a camera, an EMF detector, and a spirit box, in order to find the places where ghosts are hiding.

These spirits can be dangerous though, when the player opens their viewfinder, the ghosts will approach them and attempt to attack. If the player is attacked too many times, their sanity will be fully depleted and they will need to evacuate the premises and start over later. If the player takes eight ghost photos, they win the demo.

Check it out here and feel free to leave your thoughts in the comments. Thank you! :)

Thank you!

Hey everyone! I’ve released a short demo here for a horror/ghost photography game called Invocation. Check it out by following the link here:

https://echochvmber.itch.io/invocation

The objective of this demo is to take three photographs of a ghost who hides in several different rooms of a large, empty house. The ghost can only be seen through the viewfinder of the player's camera. The player will sometimes need to solve environmental puzzles in order for the ghost to appear. The demo takes between 10-20 minutes to complete.

Ideally, I hope to keep developing this demo into a longer game with much more content, so any support I can get for this project is greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone! :)

Thank you for playing!

Good catch! I’ll make an update for that soon. Thank you!

Thank you! :)

I’ve been thinking about this project rather frequently since finishing it. It’s haunting and beautiful, and overall a wonderful memorial to someone whose life ended far too soon. It sticks with me so much, however, because it is uncannily reminiscent of my own experience with grieving a lost loved one.

In 2017, my ex-boyfriend committed suicide at the age of 18. It was shocking and unexpected, and has since created a permanent rift in my life as well as the lives of many of our mutual friends. Navigating through this project often felt like revisiting that experience.

So many little aspects, like receiving frantic text messages on the morning after or wishing to eulogize their life knowing that some people did not accept that individual as who they truly were, caused me to dig up memories which had been buried in my mind for many years.

It can be difficult, but also simultaneously comforting to explore these environments. It’s comforting, because it is a stark reminder that you aren’t alone in your experience. As far as I'm aware, I’ve never met another person who had gone through a similar situation as me, and it is often extremely isolating knowing that nobody around you will really be able to understand or relate to you, but I believe this project succeeds in achieving that sense of understanding which you may not find anywhere else.

Thanks!
