This is a constructive evaluation, thanks! Note, my intent was the release content modules going over the fey - my intent with the book itself was to be a slim as possible to get people going. The intro is entirely about running games in a folklore setting, but yes, of the 20 pages, only 5 deal with the setting, the fey, and how to run them.
The other 15 are rules, then 2 pages are character sheet, and 2 pages are the sleeve/cover.
I'll release modules asap then and attach them to this as a bundle.
Thanks again for the feedback!

Combo of story surrounding the character the player is invested in is the kryptonite crack.
My game (Folke, available as PWYW here on itch) has within the Character Creation Rules a mechanic to create 3 characters, all intertwined, one of which is played, the others are invested in the story and used as NPCs (which are back-up characters in case of character death).
Having one of your characters kidnapped by the BBEG is an invested pull.
Having one of your characters influenced by the BBEG and starting to work against the extended party, with avenues for the player to invoke a redemption arc for their own character, unlocks huge roleplay investment.

Thanks! The Illustrations are all 13th-15th century woodcuts, as they're all the feel I am looking for - and were in the public domanin (with the exception of the icons used for the 4 Character classes, which I did a mock up for, and had AI standardize them).
And sure, I'm always down for collabs, but again, I just used images from history.
I'd love any feedback you could give!

In Folke, all Heroes are human.
Anything that isn't human is fey.
Inspired by the fairy tales of Gaelic folklore, Folke is a rules-light OSR-style RPG about strange bargains, dangerous magic, and the things that lurk just beyond the firelight. Magic is powerful, but every spell costs Vitality—the same resource that keeps you alive. Lose it all and choose between a Coward's Life or a Hero's Death, going out in a final legendary act.
The rules are quick to learn, character creation takes only a few minutes, and a complete adventure can be played in a single evening. Inside you'll find everything you need to play, including the rulebook, character sheets, and Folke's unique combat sleeve, which unfolds into the battle map itself.
If you enjoy dark fairy tales, folklore horror, meaningful choices, and stories where every victory comes with a price, pull up a chair and join us by the fire - If you like what you see, please leave a review!
In this stand-alone game, you’ll find:
- Rules to create your adveturing party of Heroes, choosing between 4 base archetypes: Fighter, Rogue, Templar, or Wytch, including Character sheet.
- A fold-out cover that is the Combat Zone Resolution Board.
- Mechanics which puts the story first, with the Narrator following guides to story flow, and issue resolution (including attacks/damage) determined via a single die roll
- A magic system that is free-form and without levels, requiring casters to bleed their own Vitality to perform whatever they describe (within their Trope Sphere).
- Notes on running the game and being a player.
- A sample bestiary of creatures from folklore.

I just uploaded my OSR TTRPG, and it's PWYC. Inspired by tales of the Sidhe of Gaelic folklore: Think European Faery Tales with dire endings. Anything not human is fae, magic demands sacrifice in blood, and every Hero survives by spending the very thing that keeps them alive, and when that runs out—choose either a Coward’s Life, or a Hero’s Death that lets you go out doing something legendary... Dangerous adventures, meaningful choices, and unforgettable stories in a rules-light package that can be learned in minutes and played in a single evening.
