I recently read your latest Patreon post, and while the news is disappointing, I understand the circumstances. Monster Girl Tailes has always had genuine potential, but even the strongest idea cannot become a finished product without consistent time, experience, or resources behind it. Having followed the project for almost a decade, I’ve seen only limited progress, and during that same period I’ve watched many other indie and adult-game projects rise and fall. The current landscape is extremely difficult, and hobby-style development simply isn’t enough to survive in it. Because of that, this outcome—though unfortunate—didn’t come as a complete surprise.

Your situation reminds me of issues that have affected other long-running projects as well. Communities surrounding games such as Quickie: A Love Hotel Story (OppaiGames) and Haremon (Tsunamie) went through similar controversy when the final direction of those games shifted from what early supporters believed the developers were building toward. In both cases, players had supported those projects for years under the impression that the endings would reflect their original harem-style concepts, only for the developers to change course late in development. Many long-time supporters felt blindsided and frustrated, and the resulting discussions highlighted a broader problem within the community.

After seeing this happen repeatedly, players—including myself—have become increasingly cautious. It has reached a point where many people feel about indie developers the same way they feel about politicians: promises are made early on, clear plans are presented, and support is gathered—but once the project is “elected,” those promises often shift, fade, or disappear entirely. And when that happens, it isn’t the developer who suffers most; it’s the supporters who trusted the vision and contributed time, attention, or money to see it become reality. After experiencing this pattern many times, I personally no longer back creators on Patreon and only purchase games once they are fully completed.

Despite all of this, I sincerely wish you the best in whatever you choose to pursue next. Nothing anyone says will change your decision, and I respect that. I’m just disappointed to see another developer reach this point, reinforcing why so many players struggle to place trust in long-term indie development promises anymore.

Good luck in your future endeavors.

It is awesome that you listened to my advice on ci-en. Hopefully this makes it easier for other people to acquire the game, as DLsite can be a bit of a hassle at times unfortunately. Another recommendation I would make, is to add English Text in the website, to help those users that are not familiar with how to use translators and etc. Good luck with your sales.

Yeah, I've seen many new projects pop up after this one, that while looking promising, I have not supported all because this person wasn't the only one, that took advantage of their supporters.

Heck even Oppai Games who does finish their games, is sort of controversial right now, because for so many years they were making the Quickie flash games, which showed a sort of Harem story, and when they eventually made their A Love Hotel Story, which even got an eventual Steam release, the development looked like it was also heading in that direction, since it even had threesome scenes, until the dev for some reason decided to ruin everyone's expectations, and when they made the ending for that game, after so many people bought the game on Steam expecting the Harem ending, the developer pulled the rugged right from under everyone, and made the player have to break up with all the women, before finally choosing one to settle down with, and then to add insult to injury, a week later after this developer created that ending, they decided to make drawings on their Patreon page, supposedly because of a "commission", where it looked like it would have been the orgy ending, as the MC was surrounded by all the women in bed for the game, after a good night of fun with them, and when people demanded that the developer add that to the game, they just simply refused and said they weren't changing anything, which is just very frustrating as you can't just trust these developers.

Another very frustrating dev is TsunAmie, the developer of Haremon, as for Pete's sake the game combines HAREM+MON in its title, yet this developer also midway into development of the game, decided to change the game's systems so that you can only have a monogamous relationship with the girls, and while there exists a patreon only cheat that would get around that, unfortunately the cheat does not work very well and it also messes up with some things in the game, which basically makes it pointless, and I find it insane that people keep supporting that dev on Patreon, after all they have done, and how after so many years they have not come even close to finishing that slop of a game, as when the game was first released, even if it was pretty bare bones and even the art was very inconsistent because of all the artists and stuff, it had a charm as one of the new projects up in the works at that time was not made by asian developers, but by today's standards with so much content on Steam alone for adult games, it just should not work and people should not be paying for it, especially considering that there are far better games in need of actual support that don't receive it...

@kane66688 You are absolutely right. I just wish that devs actually listened to people like you, because after seeing so many games deviate from what they originally started out as, I just don't feel confident supporting any new games coming out, as I have just ended up disappointed and not wanting to even complete the story for the games that betrayed my expectations.

A game that could be used as an example was Haremon which LITERALLY had HAREM in its name, and the initial concept for that game had been that you collected monster girls, and then would build multiple relationships with them as you got to know them before the eventual H scenes, but then one day the dev for that game had the bright idea to focus on monogamy, and as result destroyed what the game originally stood for, and after that dumb patch you now had to break up with the monster girls, if you ever wanted to see the H scenes for any of the girls that received new scenes through updates, which was not only tedious but more unrealistic than the original Harem idea, as even if these girls hated you for breaking up with them, you always had the option to hook back up with them, as long as you broke up with what was your current GF, but the dev never reverted back the change, because people still kept giving them money through Patreon, and to this day after just checking they are still receiving about $3k per month, so I really have no idea why people still choose to support them, but at least in my case I am just staying far away from that game.

Another developer that basically pulled the rug right from under me was Oppai Games, where they started making art and stuff since 2016, and then they released their first flash game around 2017, the so called "Quickie" series, which focused on a College guy that met all sorts of girls, and he had sex with all of them during their first meetings, and since each new flash game kept running with the same story, and the girls were even aware of each other, since they asked the protagonist about each other, and there were even scenes that had threesomes, it was showing that the college guy was some kind of Harem king, until the developer decided to stop making flash games and make a full game of sorts, which just to put the game on Steam back then, the developer required lots of support, as we needed to go into the Steam page for the game and ask for the game to get green lighted, as the Steam adult section was brand new at that point, and Steam didn't allow just about anyone to publish their adult games over there, unlike how it is now where the greenlight system is gone, but anyways back then it felt that the developer was just doing everything in its power to try and appeal to the masses, and then the game eventually got released on Steam as Early Access, and it was titled Not so Quickie A Love Hotel story, which eventually got renamed for some reason, and progress on the game had been fairly solid, where at first they were making new H scenes for the characters that they had already introduced from the Quickie series, but eventually the developer seemed like they were not trying as hard anymore, and they literally added the same scenes as the flash games as "new content" for their Steam game, and people didn't really care about that but it raised a bunch of flags for me, because I wouldn't have minded much if they just updated the scenes a bit, to either add more details or animations to them, or heck they could even had added clothing options for them just to make it feel premium, since you did need to buy the game to even try it in its early access form, but nope you were getting scenes and content from the already existing free flash games, and eventually I stopped caring too much about it, because at least in the games story and such, it was sort of following the same concept as the flash games, where you would meet the girls from the "Quickie" series and develop relationships with them, which actually gave you the chance to get to know them better, but just as the game was getting out of Early Access that was when the developer shattered everything they had built up to until that point, since for some illogical reason the final update to the story of the game, forced the protagonist to pursue monogamy, because their "Mommy" wanted grand kids, and it made many folks who had been following the story up until that point to regret even buying the game, as we were forced to painfully break up with all the girls, since there was no way to skip it and the scenes were heart breaking, just to get to the different endings which all felt sameish, as if the developer had just run out of ideas or whatever, and they were trying to rush the ending, which makes me begin to question if that had actually been the case, as Steam got some new policies were games were not allowed to stay in Early Access for a long time, so maybe the developer felt pressured about that and did what they did, but they didn't apologize or give any explanations, and they made the issue even worse, because a week after they updated the game to add the crap endings, they made a Patreon post where they drew a commissioned request, and in the drawing was a very sensual orgy scene where the protagonist laid in bed, with all the girls from the game, where all of them had very satisfied looks in their faces, and that just made me feel even more betrayed and insulted, as the developer had the actual work that could be made into one of the endings for the game, but even as they were asked to add it into the game, the developer refused and has not given us any updates for the game since, which is why I'm not interested in any of their future works, because during the games whole story no matter what selections you chose in the dialogues, you were always forced to choose the harem route, as all dialogues would end up in the protagonist pursuing multiple romantic relationships, which meant that you never had true choices in the game and everything was "flavor text",  and then you would end up punished for said harem route, even though the girls in the game already had some threesome scenes, which meant that they should have been aware of the protagonist being involved with multiple of them, so they shouldn't have acted so surprised during the break up scenes, as if it was so shocking that the protagonist had multiple relationships, so its why it just made no sense. And I feel that the worst of it is, that even though there were a lot of people that had many negative feelings toward what happened, they are not using their wallets to make a message, as that developer is still making about $4k monthly on just Patreon, and since they have other sources of income such as the Steam game and what they had on Gumroad and everywhere else, its as if people didn't really care about what happened.

I could keep mentioning other games and situations over why I no longer trust developers, but I feel that I have already shared enough to get my idea across, which is why I can only encourage people to be smart with their money, and if they don't like something to choose to vote with their wallets as I feel that is the best way to send a message. I was very interested in "Goodbye Eternity" as I followed every update from when the game was known as "Extra Life", and what I saw in the free versions demonstrated to me that the developer was putting in lots of effort, as for a first project I could definitely feel the polish, whether it was in the art, the UI that they used for the game, even the sounds and music that they chose, and I was satisfied with what I saw, especially at how the game at first allowed you to pursue the multiple girls in the game, but as I learned that the developer was trying to focus on monogamy, and that they mentioned that they had no plans for harems, or even adding a hard to acquire harem ending eventually down the line, that is when I lost interest in the game, and while there is a chance that maybe I'll take a look at the game again when it becomes a finished product, I am still annoyed at that 1 time when the dev was complaining about people not purchasing the game and etc, when they should understand that people have a right to support or not depending on many factors, and the most important factor for me when I support something, is that my interests align with the project I wish to contribute to, and because of what I mentioned before I just do not see that being the case for at least in the current version of the game. That being the case though, I do not wish harm or failure for the devs that I mentioned, and just because I am choosing not to support them as of right now, things could change over time as my interests may change as I continue to develop as a human being, and who knows maybe possibly down the line the interests of the developers may also align with mine, and then I may choose to support them.

We all understand that life is a thing, so don't sweat not being able to provide demos or anything. What I think people truly want from you however, is that you at least provide a status update every once in a while, even if that is every couple of months, because according to this very same website, the last post regarding information about the game was in 2020, and for the game industry even if you are dealing with indie stuff, that long of a period of time usually means that something happened to the developer, whether it is that they gave up or that they could not continue things for some reason, and unfortunately after having seen so many good games ending up getting abandoned, it might be hard to get support for the development of your game, as folks have become wary and are no longer willing to donate on every project that might look appealing. I can only say that I hope you have a better time at handling things this time around, because I've seen so many Mega Man inspired projects being in the works for so many years, where the one that I have been waiting for the longest has been X Corrupted, and the way that developer is handling their game which has taken about 12 years with no playable demos, I don't know what to expect nowadays so I can only say Good Luck.

This game is like a dream come true and I would have honestly loved it as a kid.

As an adult however I want to try and provide constructive criticism.

Even though the sprites looked nice, I just felt that the sizing between mons was very off, and in many levels I encountered problems with the hitboxes on both my characters, and the enemies that I faced against and it was very annoying how some mons just cannot hit some enemies at all, due to the sizing or hitbox problem.

There is no way to switch characters between levels, and that is just a shame, because the mechanics in the game make it so that different mons have advantages and disadvantages between the levels, such as how the Agumon line does well in the desert level as it doesn't receive heat damage, or how the Gomamon line does well in the water and ice level since it doesn't receive cold damage and can swim, and there are even mons that are not affected by the darkness since they can see in the dark, so I was just saddened as I found unlockable mons on my first playthrough with Agumon, but had to wait until I either cleared the game, or went back to the mode select screen but that just reset my progress in the stages, and I had to start from the first level again, even if it was nice that the unlockables and collectables were kept, so I can only recommend that the character switch shows up at the start of all levels to allow people to switch mons as they like.

I thought it was annoying how some boxes could just not be broken at all by some mons, even as they were on their ultimate or mega levels, and this made the arena more tedious, as the giant meat was always kept inside a box between the levels, and if your mon could not destroy the boxes, that means that you had to let yourself get killed between some bosses, as the only way to replenish your health, and I won't complain too much because at least you have infinite lives to do that, but it would be better if an update fixed it, and the recommendation would be, so that rookies need to use their projectile to smash the weakest box, while champions can melee the weakest box and will need to use their projectile for the crates, and then ultimates can melee the crates but will need their projectile for the metal crates, and then mega and above can break all boxes with their melee or projectiles.

One of the things that I did not like, was that once you evolved a mon, and you reverted the evolution on the mode select screen, you actually needed to collect more points to evolve it again, and I feel that is not only annoying but unnecessary, as you already spent points to unlock it, so I would recommend making it so that once you unlock an evolution, you can evolve or de-evolve as you like from the pause screen with no cost whatsoever, and this would actually make exploring the levels better, since for example Metal Greymon has double jumps and a longer reach with his metal arm, which makes for picking up certain collectibles possible, while if you just evolve him into War Greymon you lose the double jump as it gets replaced by a glide, and his Anti-Dramon claws don't have as much reach as the previous evolution metal arms.

Aside from what I mentioned I still find the game fun, and I would love to see it more polished and improved. And heck if someday a multiplayer co-op mode gets made, or even a PVP mode then that would just make it even better.

I've been following your project for a long time now, and while I've disagreed with some things at different points, such as the non existing Harem route that was available in the early versions of the game, that will no longer be a thing according to one of your posts as you are focusing on specific stories with the characters and etc, where I hope that it is reconsidered and that at some point a Harem route is made possible, I agree that you should take your time with the project in order to polish it and make it even better than it is, whether it is to fix bugs and issues, or also avoid burnout which is something that is unfortunately unavoidable for some things.

I am pretty sure that as long as you keep communicating with the people, they will come to understand and support you, because this project has shown to have a very unique art, as well as great animations, and I am sure that people would agree that a delay is far better, than the project going on indefinite hiatus or even far worse getting abandoned, as so many other visual novel type of works unfortunately ended like.

The gallery and the menu to select parameters to start off the story in are good additions, but I really wish that there was an in dept guide on how to use them, because without it I just entered random numbers in there and got random results, and it would be very cool if we actually knew what we were doing.

Other than that maybe add in a full gallery unlock, for those lazy people out there who do not want to play the game, and for some reason when you use the ESC menu to select the Post game option, the scene appears as just black with some dialogue happening, and sounds as well as an interface of a climax, so that might be some kind of error or unintended result, but not sure if this game will have any further development.

Ok it has been wishlisted. What other platforms do you plan to release the game on?

I really appreciate your honesty as a dev and it sucks that the game is not making much, because I really dig the art style, and I found myself intrigued in the story since I played the demo in 2022, but there's just not enough content in the current version of the game, for you to be asking people to purchase the game. You can ask for support on Patreon and all the other sites, but these are just donations to help move the project, its pretty unreasonable for you to expect people to go all into the project in its current state. You can pretty much blame all the kickscammers and failed indie projects, that have been turning up asking for payment as if it was early access, promising that the game will be made on just that purchase alone, only to end up in development hell and then having to basically come up with excuses, all the way until the devs finally decide to hell with it and cancel the project altogether, but none of the people that did that early access purchase were reimbursed, and this is why in the end these people were scammed, and its why nobody will trust a dev's words anymore.

It is also the reason why a lot of gacha games are failing as well, because a lot of companies have been wanting to cash into the current gacha trend, since it has proven to be very lucrative for some big names out there, but then because of their poor planning and bad decisions, they lose the interest of the playerbase and cannot keep up with the demands, and then when people quit the game and the devs have no real way to bring them back, they fail to meet the expectations of the investors or publishers, and then the game is declared a failure and shortly after that the end of service gets announced, but none of the players that were playing daily and investing a lot of time and cash into the game, are ever compensated properly since some companies do not even make an offline version of the game, and even if an offline version does get made then all progress linked to that player’s account is lost, so its like what was the point of all that time and money invested into playing it.

This is the current state of the gaming industry, because of many rotten apples, the rest of the bushel goes bad, as by the time you have been identified even though you were a good apple, you have already spoiled thus they mistake you as a bad apple as well. My only recommendation is to continue proving that you can overcome these obstacles, and hopefully people will take notice and decide to support you, as nothing can be done in regards to people’s skepticism.

Man its such a shame that this project has been abandoned for about 3 years now. I would have loved to see it completed, since I really enjoyed the art and animations.

Will the premium version be sold here in itch eventually or will it remain a Patreon exclusive? I was going to buy the game here as I usually do like I did for the other games but I do not see any options for doing that and I'm not really a Patreon person.
