Forget what I said about using overusing the Rest command after version 1.1.1.  Resting can sometimes attract aliens to drop by.. some of which are not friendly.

If you're not ready for combat, go to the Security Cube and attempt to Evade.  The Science Cube, Short and Long Range scans will show the location of an alien ship and its proximty.

  1. Set all your crew to "Researching".
  2. Encode them all.
  3. Save game

Next:

  1. Scan the first planet
  2. Go to Bot Display
  3. Drop your Minebot and Manufactory
  4. Encode your crew and Save
  5. Go to Bot Display and the Cache tab
  6. Go to Med Cube and click the Rest button
  7. Collect the items in the Planet Cache on the Bot Display
  8. Rinse and repeat steps 6 and 7 as much you want
  9. Decode crew that go insane
  10. Collect your bots
  11. Go to Creation and dismantle your bots to get more Probes (or make some with your new raw materials) until you have 4 Probes.

I'll add the probe auto scanning to the "Nice to Have" list. =)  I'm trying to find a balance between having stuff to do vs really irritating and monotonous stuff to do.  I sped up a few things on the last release.  Cube rotation is something I'm thinking of speeding up significantly for example.

Yeah, I got lucky and got a Thermoplast and then promptly lost the probe in a Sun. haha  Always save before a scan!

Thanks for the feedback so far.

Probe destruction rates were ok when I was testing.  If you're a bit lazy (and being more safe) you can scan the planets but don't collect anomalies.  Got to the Bot Config display and click the "Cache" tab.  Anomalies are stored in the planetary cache.  You collect them that way without a risk of a probe being destroyed.

You can not create Thermoplast but you can find it if you're lucky.  Thermoplast should not show up in Creation until you have the log event.  I could probably add a filter to the anomalies but it's kinda cool if you do get lucky to get some.  You don't actually find any through the events, only the ability to make it.

Go to Suenyo system (134.6, 122.2, 131.2) -> Find Derelict Ship -> Thermal Plates added to cargo -> Research Plates to learn how to make Thermoplast

v1.1.0 pushed.. see the dev log for more details.  Unfortunately you will have to start a new save game.  This could not avoided due to corruption with the system ids and events.

Almost done with testing of new version.  Found a couple of more issues with Combat if you retreat and system/planet id's that were affecting events.

I'll see what I can do over the weekend to fix these bugs.

Probe screen plays the correct song.  Sector Map song was originally Probe and sector.mod was played for some of the random aliens.  I set it to the Sector Map because I think it gets boring to hear too much of probe.mod. =)

Anomalie clicking is a bit annoying.  Something wrong with the rotation of the hitbox.  I will see what I can do to fix it.

Star reveal code is there but it doesn't seem to be working right.  I will check.  Maybe I left some debug in there or something.  It needs to work right because some events reveal hidden systems.  It's supposed to reveal 60 light years out as you travel.

There were some new events added by another programmer later on that I think I missed.  I will have to go through them and check.  There's a message about fuel and returning to Mars that I don't see.

I will do a lot more playing this weekend.  Thanks again for testing.  I do want this game to be a good experience for anyone returning to it 25 years later. =)

Please let me know if v1.0.9 (either 32 or 64 bit versions) fix your issue.  Thanks.  It will take a few more hours for all new versions to be pushed.

I'm hoping the upgrade to Unity will the video issue some users are experiencing.

I successfully upgraded to the latest Unity without breaking anything.. that's a first!  They broke the camera stacking a while back and I was stuck without having to do major rewriting of the scenes.  Apparently enough people complained and they added it back.  =P  I will clean up the code and get a build put together.  I'm hoping this will fix your video issues.

Thank you, that means a lot. =)  I do the same thing for indie studios - buying DLC just to help them out.

I'm going to also try upgrading to a later version of Unity and see if that fixes your problem.  I've got a number of minor fixes I'm testing now.

To answer your question about crew insanity:

Encode and Decode as needed

Raise your crew level and create Mind Enhancers

Tweak values using Psy Eval

I've fixed the Easy problem on Probe Scan.  Stupid simple bug that slipped through.

Found the problem with Sector Map and Insufficient Fuel.

I've found a couple of more minor issues that have been plaguing the game that I couldn't track down like some of the text updates and Creation teams not updating properly.  Those will be fixed. 

I will do a better testing pass this time around. =)

Apparently =)  I want to look at that "Insufficient Fuel" bug too that you mentioned.  Might take a couple of days.. the machine I was using to build died and I've got to set up my laptop to rebuild the assets and build the installers in addition to debugging the issue.

No more development, this is the final version of this version of the game.  We may do a sequel at some point.  There was a partially complete version of Ironseed 2 called Beyond the Rim.
