Regarding the questions:

• You can do with the outputs of the tool whatever you want, so commercial usage is totally fine, as long as you have the necessary rights for the original image.
• Credits are optional but always appreciated. If you want to add credits, feel free to credit in a way that suits you. Link to Itch would be nice, but a mention of the tool by name + my username would also be more then enough

• Algorithm: Horizontal Scanlines
• Scale: 50
• Zoom Level: 2
• Brightness: -57 (highly depends on picture)
• Contrast: -7
• Phosphor Glow: 43
• RGB Subpixel: 46
• Warp: 15
• Scanline Glitch: 5
• RGB Shift: 30
• Noise: 40
• Noise Opacity: 12
• Palette Mode: “Extract From Image” with 8 Colors

I used a similar workflow with Photoshop and Index Color and had the same problems. It was just too many steps and extra tuning needed for most images. That’s why I wanted a tool fully focused on this task where I can quickly experiment.

Hm. The web version is the same as the download version, so each level should have a door to descend into the next level. Maybe I misunderstand the problem though. I think what you mean with the “skull looking gate thing” is the initial spawn point where you are resurrected. Holding down space for auto-walk should eventually lead you to a door, maybe the pathfinding got stuck and you have to walk away from the spawn point a bit :D

I can definitely see your point about the first-person style! I specifically choose it because I felt just doing another top-down 2d roguelike game wouldn’t be fun for me, but that’s totally subjective :)

EDIT: I just updated the beta build to include a simple 2D mode for a more classical roguelike experience. You can enable it in the settings. Additionally the pathfinding should now go around the spawn to avoid any confusions

Awesome work! Really like the minimal style. The bouncy-ness feels good. Plays like a great game from the old-school flash games era where the gameplay is king and the focus lies on a singular concept :)

Step into the post-apocalyptic world of End Of Eden – it’s a free, open-source roguelite deck-builder game rocking the retro terminal/crt vibe, think “Slay the Spire” meets post-apocalyptic in the terminal.

Right now, it’s in its early (pre-)alpha stage. The game “engine” is mostly working and a bit of test content to showcase the features is present. But here’s the kicker: End Of Eden is all about community power! It’s built with modding in mind, giving you the keys to create your own cards, enemies, artifacts – heck, even design whole campaigns.
