Seriously impressive for only 3 days of work. Good Job! It looks nice, sounds and nice and is fun to play; can't ask for much more.
I must admit that I don't see how it fits in with the theme? I feel like I'm missing something obvious
Honestly, I kinda dig the music; I wasn't sure at first but did grow on me a little :)
And since no one else has said it - Well done on completing your first Game Jam! Finishing is half the challenge; Not only did you finish, but you also created an enjoyable experience. You ought to be proud of yourself! (heck I'm kinda proud of you lol)
I think, since you're still in the early stages of learning Unity, it would be beneficial to go back to this and a little polish. I would consider adding a little animation (I think a little squash stretch would be perfect for this project) and fixing a bug where the player can stick to the walls (this is a friction problem so you'll need to look into Physics Materials).
But again - great job and well done! :)
So first of all, that cloud background is amazing; I love it lol
The rest of the graphics are also really nice and the music was nice and relaxing which fits the overall style really well.
I felt like it took a little too long for the puzzles to get difficult but I'm probably being nit picky; there's nothing inherently wrong with the level design. Great Job ! :)
Also damn you and your rickroll >:(
So I get that the game's meant to be a little scary, but honestly I couldn't stop laughing. It's definitely not what you were going for but it's certainly not a bad thing; I enjoyed playing it which is all that matters really.
I think that the 3 second cooldown on attacking was an interesting approach to the theme. Good Job!
So, I've never played Advanced Wars, but after watching some gameplay footage, I can say that you make a good point lol.
And you are correct, the character designs are based off Polandball (or Countryballs), digital comics made by people all over the internet. There are also many YouTube channels that use them. If I had more time, I would've liked to lean further into that art direction but 72 hours simply wasn't long enough.
Annoyingly everything you suggested was on my to-do list but I just didn't get chance to implement them :(
Sadly the music is only 30 seconds long, and half of that is the intro. My musician is more of a quality over quantity guy.
So first of all, I really appreciate the Cold War setting; that gives you some bonus points from me :)
And the game as a whole is honestly fantastic. Its super creative, the art and the music is absolutely phenomenal and the gameplay is straight up addicting (even if it is quite RNG dependent).
I truly hope that this game wins the jam - its just that good!
Honestly, I really appreciate your comment. I honestly feel quite disappointed, and to be frank, embarrassed, about the final game. But hearing some genuine constructive feedback makes me feel a bit better.
It's kinda weird, but your comment does make me want to turn this terrible game into something decent.
So, thank you, your comment really means a lot to me. :)
Also, its late as I'm writing this, but your game looks really interesting and I'm looking forward to playing it.
I've seen this concept a few times in this jam, but it was never applied to a platformer, so this entry is a weird mix of familiarity and uniqueness. The music is great and the graphics are simple yet really appealing. I'll just say this though: I don't like how the jump feels. Maybe it would've been better if there was a low and high jump?
