Wow! I simply loved this game!
So much creativity, nice gameplay, and beautiful graphics!!
That's exactly what I was looking for, you're awesome dude!
Thank you so much for this gift and a Merry Christmas to you too!
Wow, what a fun and nice game! The Aesthetics are awesome, combining 2D pixel art with 3D environments was a great choice, I loved it. Knowing that I can't run got me super anxious about the enemies and every time my ammo ran out I got scared as hell. Really nice game and very well polished! Congrats on your entry!
I like this game! Nice story and good retro-styled graphics. Nice transitions and use of sounds too, btw.
I felt that the maps were too repetitive, but that's fine for the development time. The horizontal lines on the screen were initially giving me anxiety, but I've gotten used to them a little later. Congrats on your submission!
Yeah, that was my first serious game hahah (beside a project I’m working for steam, but currently frozen since I don’t have time for it).
I’m sorry for the ambient been too dark… as I stated in the previous comment, in my monitor it was already too bright, and I didn’t had enough time to add an options menu! That really is something that will keep an eye in my next projects! Overall, I’ll be looking to improve this since I’m thinking about keep up with the project!
Thanks for your review!! Appreciate it!
Oh, thanks a lot for your review and showing your thoughts!! This really encourage me a lot to make this a complete game!!
At the beginning I was thinking about every flashback been related to a puzzle(like the first one), but at the final hours of the Jam I decided to polish more the game, develop the end and, unfortunately, cutoff the puzzles… And even this way I almost couldn’t upload my game in time xD
About the ambient been too dark, I think there’s something to be with my monitor, since for me the game was already too bright xD I’ll look for it in the next versions and probably add a option in the menu to change the brightness, since I didn’t had time for this either! Probably I’ll find out a way to fix the flashbacks too.
Good to know that you’ve noticed and liked details like keeping the movement directions, I had a hard time figuring out how to make the controls smooth!!
Once again thank you so much for your review! I’ve felt really happy and motivated reading this! And for sure I want to put more effort in this game!
I've really liked that, been honest, It would be great a collab some day if you want!
I've made my game in UE5 too and forgot to add Vulkan and DirectX 11 support in the building settings. This ended with me uploading my game 2 hours later from submission period... I was almost crying when I contacted the host and he authorized me to send the update!
Thanks so much for your review! This really keep me inspired and motivated
I've tried my best with the controllers haha The first build was alot worse!
About your pc having trouble with it, that's a serious problem when using Unreal 5 for a Jam I think... Unreal is beaultiful, but takes a lot of time to otimize the game, and sadly, I didn't have enough time for it.
Btw, I'm planning to play your game again today, I've played yesterday but I was so tired to got through the puzzles hahaha As soon as I play it will review it (spoiler: I've loved your style)!
Thanks for playing! If you want to try the good ending by yourself, there's a final "secret" flashback, which explains a little more of the story and the end! You just have to solve the last puzzle without entering the wrong door more than twice + run towards the monster (to fight him) in the red room. But if you just want to know what happens, here's the story:
SPOILER AHEAD:
First, there's another flashback of her husband telling her to forgive herself, and trying to convince her that something is not her fault. With this, the games ends with the explanation:
Alex finally woke up from her nightmare, only to discover that she had been in a car accident. This tragic event claimed the lives of both her husband and children and left her in a coma for several days. Thanks to her memories, she found the strength to return to life and face another day.
Wow, that was a really good short experience...
And I was shocked by the story and primarily by the character name: Jack!
The story is your game is very similar to mine, and to go even further, in the story I've wrote (does not show up in the final game), my main character husband name is Jack xD
What a coincidence!
Congrats for you game!
