Ratings and Reviews: where to find

Can someone please tell me where to find ratings and reviews for games? I know they're there because I've left a few of my own but have no idea how to access them. Is there a way to see an aggregate score or browse reviews like you would on any other storefront? From Amazon to Steam, it's pretty common.

I was told by one person that itch.io only uses those ratings to hide all but the best games, which I hope isn't the case but that's another issue.

See the Interact -> Ratings & Reviews tab in each project dashboard. There's a quick link in your global dashboard too, in the More menu next to each project.

I think there's a misunderstanding.

You can only see the reviews of your own games (that's what @No time to play refers).

@shadree I think he's asking about other people's games.

If I understood correctly, you cannot see the reviews of games that are not yours, you can only see the final value when you expand the "more information" option.
There are several posts that talk about the subject, and Itch's review system really doesn't work like it does in other places.

As to whether this value affects the visibility of the game, there is no official document that clarifies it (that I know of). @No time to play, I seem to remember you saying that value doesn't affect visibility.

I also do not remember reading a clarification.

Public reviews do appear in the feed though. But that is just that. A feed. You can feel the "pulse" of what is popular and maybe get suggestions for collections to look at. But those ratings/reviews are not searchable by game.

That's right. You can only see ratings in your feed because they're left by people you follow. You can't otherwise read what other people said about someone else's game. The More Information box on each game page shows its overall star rating, but nothing else.

Uhm. Not exactly. It does not matter if you follow an account. That does not give you special access to their activites. You just have them filtered into my-feed and get a notification.

The setting in the account is, what matters.

( ) Make my public activity on itch.io visible to my followers and other users of the site

Reviews appear in the global feed https://itch.io/feed?filter=ratings

The wording of the setting is redundant. The latter category already includes the former. And the explanation below is not exhaustivly, so users with privacy concerns might be worried what else is considered "public activity".

I did mean other people's games.

That "more information" tip helps though.

I did search before posting this topic.

Thanks for your reply.

It's odd that this is the only site I can think of that doesn't post reviews the public can view before purchasing a game. I know there are problems with bots but I don't see why it's not a feature.
