Virus Alert in Space Squid :(

Hello everyone, first of all I apologize for my bad English. I have a problem with my game Space Squid. The virus scanner reacts to the uploaded file. I created the game using Game Maker Studio 1.4. . The Game Maker file is virus free. The scanner only works when I create an executable. Unfortunately I have no explanation for this. I then loaded the game into Game Maker Studio 2 and created an executable that was virus-free. What should I do now? Is there a way to upload the new version or should I remove the game? Thanks for listening and sorry for the inconvenience.

Do NOT remove your game! :)

What you can do is:

- Make another itch page for the new download

- Link to the new page from your old one. (That way people can still play and rate the old one, but the new version is available if they want it.)

someone told me that my game (made with GM 1.4) was being flagged as a virus also. it is just antivirus software being overactive, not your game.

Thank you for your reply. It really seems to be a problem with Game Maker Studio 1.4. I've read similar reports from people with the same problem.

yeah. i know the same thing happens with a few other game engines like Clickteam Fusion. i don’t remember having this issue with any previous games though, so it’s kind of weird. i guess that’s what we get for using an old unsupported version of a game engine.

Might also try an HTML export if this engine supports it, in a separate project that you link to your first one.

yes. i’m guessing HTX does not have that. i do, but that’s also broken and the music doesn’t work correctly. everything else seems to work okay, so at least it’s playable. it seems like most people are playing the HTML version instead of the PC build unfortunately so i hope they are checking out the soundtrack on youtube and rating based on that because our musician made some great songs.
