This was very atmospheric. A neat idea that fits the theme well.

It was hard andI didn't finish it, but I'm glad I played.

Nice game, good for relaxing and exploring. You could add some more features as others have commented, since the game seems a bit blank at times.

Cool game, I definitely wanted to explore more. Also got some chuckles out of the description of lava planets being populated with "dead-like" creatures, haha. I think you've already gotten some good feedback from others, but I will reiterate that the world feels too big and empty and the fuel runs out too quickly, especially since you can't refuel on planets you've already discovered. Also, the map was handy but I ended up playing the whole game in map mode once I realized you could still move and land--not sure if that was what you intended? All the same, I had fun. Congrats on this!

Okay, this will be huge... First of all, game is well made, i enjoyed playing it. Second - it has great potential and concept. But it have problem. In current state of project there's too much free space and fuel is really low(mostly because you don't have a way to restore it on planets that you already know and because you have absolutely no idea where to go). My record is 5 explored planets.

What i suggest:
1. Add a way to refill fuel on the planets that you already explored. And explore them again if you accidentally press exit button.
2. Adding a way to know where's planet. It other comments Paris said about scanner, also it could be just text with relative location, like in "Treacherous Sea" for example.
3. Maybe some sort of map(with or, or without you on it), that will show what you already explored, so you would able to select where you need to go next.
4. Adding other objects, beside planets to explore, that will fill empty spaces and give player some buffs/debuffs.

Would be cool if you will continue development after the jam, good luck!

Thanks a lot of your long comment! I tried to code a scanner but it was not efficient nor fun . I agree with your suggestions and i learned a lot for next jams: to not do it too big.... ;) I know one dude managed to finish the game and sent me the winning page but it require patience and a bit of luck.

Thx again for your review!

Interesting take! It requires a lot of patience to roam in the dark to find 21 planets :) In my opinion, would be nice to have some hints on overall direction, but uncertainty if there is enough fuel to get there.

Oh, forgot, like the map/zoom function works well and really useful!

Nice work! :)

Good start, I got excited when you gave me text popups cuz I thought it was gonna be an FTL like but not so much. I do like that you can only refuel once at each planet in terms of giving players a tough choice but that needs to be communicated more clearly (locking the button only works as an indicator after you've used it; a pop-up wouldn't go amiss).

The map feature is really well done, I love that it's not just zoomed out from the game, but you could lean even more into the difference (change the planets to just circles, make the background a solid colour, etc) and it needs something to dissuade you from just playing completely in that mode (lock the controls at the very least)

There's not much of a game loop at the moment - more choices on the planet exploration would be neat (FTL like morality choices) or maybe reworking the movement to be more involved; it's space, you don't need to use fuel to move in zero G (check out 'Its Lonely out in Space'), and it would be cool to have gravity wells around planets that can help or hinder you. You could add a dash-like warpdrive that does use fuel (since you're going faster than physically possible) that doesn't get affected by gravity but also doesn't update your map or affect your momentum.

i agree with u! a lot of improvements could be made on the game loop, it very minimalistic now, was planning more gameplay elements but was short on time. thx much for this detailed review!

I agree with Paris' suggestions, and would also like to suggest some parallax scrolling for the background to help the player feel the movement more!

I like this concept, exploring space just makes sense! I only managed to explore 2 planets I think that being able to refuel at the same planets you already discovered would make the gameplay a bit more approachable as sometimes you go pretty far into nothing without finding a new planet to refuel from, I would also add a pinging system to scan around to make finding planets a bit easier, with a cooldown :]

i scaled it a bit too much for 48h.. but was interesting to learn fog of war and planet generation. thx for your comment!
