Amusing game!

I got frustrated a bit, however, from how the trailer worked, since it isn't how real trailers work with cars. The pivot points were wrong and the tire orientation/rotation wasn't taken into account, which is very important for backing up trailers...

I very much like the idea, I think just my own experience with how to reverse and turn with trailers made me get very frustrated.

Regardless, good job, and I think I just had some problems adapting to how the game works!

Thank you for the comment!

I have my own experience to drive a car with a trailer too. May be it game has some mistakes, but in general it move as same as real car trailer. I made a screenshot video to compare game's and real car trailers behaviour.

Please, tell more what you meant about wrong behaviour of trailer in this game.

I checked pivot (as middle between wheels) on sprite:

Most of my frustration came from the trailer itself jumping towards its side when the angle got too great, as if there wasn't any weight in the trailer nor grip to the wheels. As far as I can tell, the forces acting upon the vehicle+trailer aren't taking into account the hitch's own rotation and forces that applies. Also, probably the biggest contributor is that the there is no actual state to the turning direction as you would in a real vehicle (e.g., the tires turn to face a direction and remain there until you counter-turn them).

I think most of my gripes would be solved by retaining wheel turn state and making the trailer more weighted or have it have a higher drag amount when lateral force is applied. Not certain what your model is, just some thoughts.

Ok, I see. I think in real life, the trailer will break or detach from the car, or it will be dragged almost jumping :) So, in real life is better way to not allow very big angle of direction for the trailer.

What about wheels rotation: in fact, in this game, the wheels retain the angle of rotation, but for a very short time, as if the driver quickly turns the steering wheel back if the arrow on the keyboard is not pressed, because I am used to the fact that in games movement without a pressed arrow straight-line movement.

Thanks for the clarification!

I make sure to bump off all other cars to corners before I can park, I am so bad at this haha. Really fun game though!

Did you mean something like that?

Thank you! )

The concept is good and I like this theme interpretation.

The driving physics are fascinating. I’m interested to play a racing mode for this game where you can drive normally along the track. Have you made this physics model just for this game?

The music is good, but the sound effect of the engine (?) are quite jarring. :( It’s good that there is a sound level option that saved the day. :)

Thank you! Yes, I wanted to add a level with a racing mode or something like that, but I didn't have enough time. I made physics for this game, but I don't really like collision physics and I will refine this point or use an existing framework for physics.

About sounds.. yep, you are right! We need to imagine that engine of car feel is not so good :)

It's harder than it seems, but gets really satisfying over time
I liked the little efforts on velocity / car physics that made it not-so-obvious to manipulate, requiring some practice to master haha
Visuals are simple but on point, and I really like the music and sfxs, I think they were fitting very well!

Nice game, good job!

Thanks! There are wheels in the car model, but it is not drawn, so it will take some time to align the wheels in front direction, so the behavior is a little more complicated than in usual games and a little closer to reality.

Only two things to say:

  • I'm thankful for the light music to make me feel less guilty about the attrocities I have committed.
  • Forget about Celeste, I want to see speedrunners pick up this game instead.

Thank you! After the 10th passage of this game, I can go through it almost with my eyes closed. So, I think that adding timer to the game will good for it
