He's not straight. He's figuring himself out, in self-denial, going through gay guilt. A lot of gays feel like this growing up, I certainly did. So his narration is going to reflect said denial.
Uh... how old is the MC? If he's over 18 he's had plenty of time to figure things out...
This is absolutely not relatable to me whatsoever... to the point that I could not even imagine the possibility of it and just assumed he is straight... So, in any case, this game is definitely not for me. Can't put myself in the MC's shoes because I cannot comprehend whatever he's feeling.
That's ok. Not every game is for everyone.
MC is based on me and a ton of people had that same experience.
Also, have you met closeted gay men? A gazillion of them are over 18, a lot of them middle aged and even (unhappily) married to women.
Maybe try to use empathy to see other points of view instead of assuming every experience should be exactly like yours.
I'm glad you have it all figured out. A lot of us haven't.
Uh yeah, plenty of gay men are in the closet... what does that have to do with anything?
How the fuck can I use empathy to see something I have no knowledge of? What the fuck? You are insane.
And yes, I definitely have it all figured out. Not hard when, you know, sexual attraction is an involuntary physical response that does not require figuring out. Literally all you need to do is not be paralyzed. But I dunno, maybe you are paralyzed.
they don't mean you in particular for being unable to understand how the MC feels and how comfortable he is with his sexuality, everyone here is glad you have yourself figured out and we hope you stay in a situation where you can be yourself openly, but you are not every gay person. a lot of gay men and women don't realize they like the same gender until very late in life because of how they were raised or who raised them or who they were raised around. back when I was a minor I constantly thought that I knew nothing about myself because I was a minor and that what I was interested in might change when I grew up and or I might be straighter than a needle, spoiler alert, I never did, and also on the main topic about why most M/M games have "straight" MC is so it can relatable to those who still don't know themselves and wouldn't mind exploring via real life experience, or virtual ones. some games ignore it because it's not everyone, some games add it because it's not everyone.
What the heck man?
It's really cool that you've got it all figured out and we're all seriously happy for you - and we support that! No one should feel guilty or scared because of their sexuality, but unfortunately so many of us still are, due to the way we grew up, things we were taught or people we were around.
But what you wrote is so narrow-minded!
"If he's over 18 he's had plenty of time to figure things out", seriously? Do you believe that, like, by the age of 18, you gotta have yourself figured out? That's so wrong, because 18 is so young and you're basically just starting to explore life freely. Like, I believed I was asexual until not so long ago and it took me so much time to accept that and to stop trying to force myself to change. Only to realize in my middle twenties that I'm, well, not so asexual. And I'm STILL not even sure where I fit exactly.
You use empathy to put yourself - to imagine yourself - in another person's shoes and see things from their perspective. You don't have to have knowledge of something or experience it to be able to use empathy.
