How does your game fit the theme?
You have to get troops from the garrison on Earth (Terra) to the right front where they are desperately needed in time. This can be done via normal space but also via hyperspace. Travelling there is a lot faster, but also a lot more dangerous! It's an alternate dimension full of ominous demons but it can save you travel time. Do you take the gamble.

Other things you want to share with the players of your game.
You can also just fly around and find some fun locations in SPU space.

Try [shift] to go to the alternate Hyperspace dimension.

I hope you have fun!

* PS: I can not win any prices during the Game Jam as Host, but I would appreciate any feedback on the game and your ratings😊!

Really cool game! Nice graphics and the VFX and music were amazing! The enemies were pretty hard to kill which made it a little tricky, but they looked really good just like the rest of the game :)

It was a little hard to turn around. It was nice for drifting long distances, but it was quite difficult to fight enemies up close. I ended up moving back and shooting at them from a distance. Also, I found a glitch where the menu stopped working, but I'm sure it could be fixed easily.

Overall a really nice entry, with an interesting idea and unique gameplay. Thank you for hosting this jam, I really enjoyed it! :)

Developer

Thanks for the positive feedback😊!

Indeed the controls are a bit too harsh. Shall try to improve that in a next game or game jam.
And the menu was done too quickly at the end and noticed some strange things myself. Bugfix needed πŸ˜Š!

Thank for the findings and good tips!

Glad you enjoyed playing!

You're welcome and I hope you will join us again in the #8 jam!

I gotta be careful what I say about the host's game... I don't want mine to be disqualified. :) JK

Great Job, Bravo! I really enjoyed the overall atmosphere of the game. You're definitely right about 3d games being able to be among the best game jam entries. :) All the graphics were spot on and worked well together -- You have great attention to detail. I especially enjoyed seeing the portal/hyperspace dimension animation/transition -- It was incredibly well done. The enemies seemed appropriate and the planets looked very good. The controls were simple enough and felt smooth. The audio was good and fitting. -- Though, the menu's overall were a bit janky. Overall, solid game jam entry to your own jam, thank you so much for hosting, and keep up the great work! :)

Developer(+1)

No worries, you will not be disqualified πŸ˜‰ (this time haha😊)

Thanks for the compliments and that you have fun playing! Glad you liked the transition. It did cost me some time but I felt it was important part of the game. Do not know if you noticed, but if you go to hyperspace near a big enemy alien green ship... It will notice that and follow you in it's own hyperspace transition πŸ˜Š(very small detail but I had to fit that in)

Yes, you are completely right about the menu's. Were one of the later additions to the game and a bit hasty. Need to improve that indeed. Good tip!

And glad I finally had a submission for our own jam once again πŸ˜‰!

You definitely show one of a passionate dev. :) I can't wait to see what you make in the coming jams. I didn't see the big enemy alien green ship coming after me but I am sure that took a good amount of work to add. I might play again later and try to catch it. :)

Developer(+1)

I will certainly try to join our own game again πŸ˜Š!
Hope you catch it when you play again, but a lot of other fun games are still awaiting you here. Have fun !

Whoah man, amazing game, love so much the visual effects you use and the 3d elements are amazing, really cool mechanic trow the realities and the AI looks amazings XD and the AI that can also change reality spectacular

Really good entry x3

maybe some more variety in weapons or a turbo so you can fly faster and avoid the conflicts e.e x3

Developer

Thank you for the kind words and compliments. Glad that you liked it and enjoyed playing!

Nice that you noted that the big alien ship can follow you to Hyperspace. Small detail but did cost some time and I thought would be fun that you thin you are safe but they follow you πŸ˜Š!

If you complete missions you get a little boost in speed and rotation, but turbo and more weapons is definitely a good tip. I had more weapons in mind, but as you probably also know...time flies in a game jam πŸ˜Š!

Thanks again for playing and the feedback!

Awesome game, although a little tricky! Graphics were absolutely beautiful, especially the VFX and the music I could jam to all day! As hard as the enemies were to kill, they did look awesome as well, especially in the "red" area

Here's some quick feedback I have for the game:

  • I was originally a little confused by the goal, maybe only show the arrow you need to head to at the start?
  • As cool as it was to fit the theme, I found the dimentional shift mechanic a tad confusing. It seemed to just send me to a harder dimension everytime? And then I did do dying  XD
  • The movement was also a little slow, especially the turning. It was nice for drifting long distance, but when I tried to turn to fight enemies / dodge bullets it just wasn't possible unfortunately. I had to pick them off at a distance the few times I managed to kill them, but as soon as I was fighting one damaged or a group of 2 or more, it was over.
  • The game weirdly stole my mouse at the end! So I was unable to use the menus... Dont' know if that's a unity glitch though of course.

Overall this is an awesome concept and with a few tweeks I think it could be really fun! Thanks for hosting the jam, GoedWare jams are probably my favourite jams on this site, glad to take part in another one! :)

I've recorded a quick video of the gameplay while I was playing, I find it helpful to watch how others interact with my game, so hopefully you can find some use for it too!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for playing and the compliments πŸ˜€!

And also for the feedback of course. Always good to read the opinion from the players.

  • Yes, the goals could be indeed more clear. Wanted to make an active tutorial but time ran out quickly. But I understand it could be vague were to go and what to do.
  • It is a harder dimension, but you also travel faster in that dimension. About twice as fast. So it could be of benefit to travel there to get to the new front in time. That was the idea anyway πŸ˜…..
  • It was intentional slow in the beginning and after you complete some mission you will go faster and also rotate faster, but you are right it is even then still difficult to kill all the badguys.. Some extra time would have helped balance the game a bit more indeed.
  • Hmm..could be unity or I did something wrong with the cursor hiding and showing... Need to investigate

Thanks for these tips and experiences and feedback! Very helpful to make my games better and more fun!

Glad that you like our game jams! Nice that you joined us and hope you will join us in the next one also πŸ˜€!?

Hope you had fun participating in the jam and had fun playing this game!

PS: neat to see a video of the gameplay. That is also helpful and definitely of use. Thanks for that also!

> "It was intentional slow in the beginning and after you complete some mission you will go faster and also rotate faster"

Ah I thought that was the case! Noticed it the one time I managed to drop someone off haha, definitely a good idea!

Will definitely be joining for the next ones! I took part in the 3rd jam but hadn't had the time again until now, free for the foreseeable future this year though so will definitely be taking part in any more you do! (Need to make up for the entry for the 3rd jam XD)

Developer(+1)

Cool, love to see your next project in the next jam. You really need to make up for it yes hahaπŸ˜…πŸ˜€!
We will announce the new date before the end of this jam.

Very cool hyperspace graphics and animations, I like the concept and the controls were ok in my opinion, it felt better when I got upgrades.

The view distance could be a bit higher so that player could see bit more of the incoming stuff, maybe scale the view height with speed?

I also would have liked some different weapons / more fighting, now I was just too busy  to transfer troops to bother fighting the enemies and gathering xp, but if that is the point, then it is ok :P.
(But if I had another weapon, it would be some recharging emp or similar ground-control or mass effect weapon to make troop landing more safe for a moment.. )

Good music! Nice demons, cool ship. Would become fleet admiral again.

Developer

Thank you for the kind words πŸ˜Š!

Glad you had fun!

Yes, I also had in my mindset to add more and fun weapon upgrades, but as it unfortunately often goes with game jams, time was my biggest enemy instead of my power πŸ˜‰.

Good tips for the view height and increasing it with speed! Keep that in mind next time.
Thanks for playing and the feedback!

Maybe it's because my laptop is trash, but the game is really laggy for me for some reason.

The concept is good, I feel like the controls should be more snappy to properly dodge enemy bullets. Also I can't exit hyperspace by pressing shift again which is inconvenient.

The art is fine, the music/sfx is really good.

Developer(+1)

Thank you for your feedback. It can be that the performance is not so well unfortunately. No time left to fine-tune it. Snappy is a good tip βœ….

Your hyperspace engine does take 10 seconds to recharge before you can go back.. Maybe that is the reason..? You can see in the top left the recharge of the engine.

Once again thanks for playing and hope you did have some fun 😁?!

Developer(+1)

PS: When you have completed some missions you get sometimes extra forward and rotation speed. That could help you with dodging but still the snappy controls is something I should definitely check to improve :-)!
