polished game! nice style art!

I enjoyed playing it!

Developer

Thanks!

Interesting game! I love the dim lighting and how the light would flash a bit for each shot. Good job on the details!

Developer

Thanks! The lighting was one of our central ideas for the game so you’d never be sure if a zombie could jump out at you from the dark.

Wow this game was super fun! It wasn't too easy or too hard. Exploration is rewarded with health packs and ammo. The graphics were pixel great and sfx of weapons wonderful. The only thing that was missing was crunchy sound effects for the on hit effects and pickup sfx. I enjoyed it, well done!

Developer(+1)

Thanks! We will add more sound effects in the future, unfortunately we ran out of time to add more for the jam.

A zombie game with some various weapon, how to not like it ;) Honestly it's clean and well done. I like the pixelart graphics and the lighting. I think you deal more damage if you shoot a zombie in the head right ? But it was not clear enough, maybe some feedback to tell the player that you deal more damage or an effect when it dies from a headshot or something. Great job :)

Developer(+1)

Thanks! Yes, headshots do extra damage, when you land a headshot it does a "burst" particle effect that is noticeably different if you know what it looks like. However, a lot of people didn't notice it so I think we'll add more ways to tell that you landed a headshot, such as a different sound or bigger particle effect, or even the zombies being staggered when you land a headshot.

I liked the weapon variety. It was something that kept me motivated me to progress. Overall really nice game. Good job :)

Developer

Thank you! We wanted to add lots of cool weapons that were fun to use, and the different types of ammo kinda forces you to experiment with all of them. We'll definitely be adding more in the future!

ONE OF THE BEST GAME IN GAME JAM BUT

I HADE SOME BUG WHERE I ENTRE A WALL IN LEVEL 2

Developer(+1)

Yes, that is a bug that unfortunately made it into the game jam build. It'll be fixed in the next version after the jam is over!

I think the graphics were very pretty.  I also think you guys nailed the lighting for the setting. Game felt very polished all around!

Developer

Thank you! The art was from Kauzz and Jere Sikstus (I did the character animations though).

Great graphics, and very atmospheric. I really liked it. Good job!

Really fun game. I really like what you did with all the lights. Just dark enough that felt like I needed the flare gun and definitely set a spooky vibe. Also, the flare smoke particles were a nice touch. I also thought the level design was awesome, with how much verticality there was.  Resource management was pretty well balanced.

At one point I did walk through a wall and fall forever, but that's pretty much my only complaint.

Great work, overall!

Developer

Thank you! We wanted to make it dark enough to where zombies could sneak up on you if you weren't careful, adding a lot of use to the flare gun and the flash when you fire the other guns. We also tried to capture the open-ended vertical level design of games like Hollow Knight and the Ori series.

The bugged wall was one thing that slipped through the cracks in the game jam build, but it'll be fixed in the next version after the jam is over!

Very good  concept, though i think the range for the knife has to be a small bit longer. Still very good

Developer

Thanks! The melee weapons in general are a bit harder to use than I think we intended, we will be buffing them all-around in the next version.

Very well made game, with nice and easy mechanics, maybe could be bit harder, but i cant complain to much. :)

I would be glad if you checked my own game. :)

Developer

Thanks! The game is fairly easy if you know how to conserve ammo and aren't caught off guard by the zombies, but I've also seen a lot of less experienced people have played it and had some trouble. I think we will ramp up the difficulty in the later areas once we add more. Also, I checked out your game and rated and commented!

Nice and cool! I loved pixel art style in your game.

Developer

Thanks! Most of the pixel art was from Kauzz and Jere Sikstus.

really nice and fun game loved it but the shooting is a little bit slow and the movement is very basic but overall very nice game

great work.

Developer

Thanks! Shooting is a bit slow for most of the starting weapons, we may change that later. I think we'll definitely add more movement options in the future too!

very nice on the game atmosphere. really like it. wish it had a roll action to dodge the zombies

check out our game if you have time :)

Developer

Thank you so much for trying our game. We are going to update our game after the jam and for sure we will consider implementing a dodging system for the player.

Great game the design is neat with a nice light effect.

I laughed from the beginning when I shot the ghost and he told me "don't shoot me".

I think you have an excellent base and I have some ideas for improvement because I imagine you will continue to develop:

* Close combat weapons are very weak and difficult to use, maybe boost their damage.

* A more different feeling between the weapons, the assault rifle with automatic fire, the shotgun more violent?

Very good work in one week, keep it up!

Thanks for the feedback! We do plan on buffing the melee weapons across the board. For the guns, I think adding bullet trails and different sounds will help differentiate them, along with adjusting their rate of fire and damage. Check back sometime after the jam for updates!

I liked the lighting effects and the ghost guys showing how to play! Really neat!

Managed to defeat the first "super hugger zombie" and then the game spawned me near a ghost telling me to kill 'em all. Does it have any end? It seemed like after defeating that first tough guy the game just generated a stage randomly in which I had to kill everyone (which would be kinda amazing to have a random generator working like that in such a short time!). I was killing the zombies until I found a wall that had no wall, the super zombie fell in, and I fell right after him because I got curious if it was just a wall with no collider or he passed through fast enough as to not be detected!

Anyway, I liked the song, though it could be a bit more creepy or action paced. The melee weapons felt like they were so weak, maybe a heavier sound effect could help improve the feeling. The ranged weapons had a better sound but the enemies did not seem to feel anything, no knockback or reaction. Also, I didn't see much difference between the guns, using the large rifle killed the common zombies in the same amount of shots as the pistol.

The zombies were easy to cheese, it seems like when they are below you they try to jump (which is very nice and kinda scared me when I discovered it!) and when they are above they just test if they are near your position and started attacking the air. Perhaps adding some trigger to check if they are right at your side to attack could help?

A good action platformer overall!

Developer

I'm glad you enjoyed the game! The game doesn't go on infinitely, you just got to the second level which was shorter than the first. Unfortunately you also found the wall without collision that we missed before submitting to the jam, which a lot of other people have found too. Thanks for the feedback on the weapons and zombie AI! We'll be updating this sometime after the jam is over as well, so be sure to check back.

This game looks fantastic! The movement flows and the effects are great! The only issue i have is that the zombies sometimes feel like bullet sponges, but other than that, it's a great game!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback! Yeah, I do agree the zombies may have a bit too much health. Did you try aiming for their head? Headshots do extra damage, although we may want to add another way to communicate that to players besides a different particle effect.

Submitted

Fun! As others have mentioned, lighting was very well done, and the pick up system was intuitive.
