Nails the retro feel. I enjoy the art and music as well. The end of level animation puts a big smile on my face :D

I think the movement would feel better slightly slower and with more momentum, similar to Super Mario. The enemy spawn rate (or just number of enemies) and movement speed are a bit overwhelming.

Overall I liked it, well done!

The tone and the level design is really great. It is great to play even if there's only few mechanics. The complaint I have is some hitboxes covering way too much ground and some umpredictable actions by the enemies that can be uncovered only by trial and error. Other then this minor things I would love a more fleshed out level design around this! More intricate levels with different enemies and secrets. The way enemies came at me reminded me of a shoot em up and enjoyed this somewhat mix beetwen two very different genre!

This did a good job of capturing the retro feel and look. The sprite art felt very well done.

I had a bit of trouble with the enemy hit/hurt boxes. Sometimes we both took damage, sometimes something that looked like a hit just hurt me, and sometimes I would run straight into some of them and they'd get hurt. It was also very hard to tell when some enemies were planning to jump, leading to a bit of frustration. The enemies felt a little inconsistent, but other than that, good entry!

This is really good!! You did a great job nailing the feel of an NES platformer, this definitely feels like something from that era. The controls are tight, the music and sound effects are great, and the graphics are really charming! I did find it to feel a little unfair at times, especially in the second level, where I couldn't actually progress because it didn't seem possible to get onto the platforms with the knife enemies on them without getting slashed on my way down, since they wait for you to approach before slashing, I feel like they might work better if they attacked on a timer instead of in response to the player, allowing the player to time their jumps so as to take them out without getting hit. Overall really great game! I don't know how many levels you made, but I'd love to see the rest of it beyond level 2 if things get updated! (or maybe I just need to git gud at hop hop...)

Thank you so much! The boat level can be quite difficult - sorry about that. I was struggling to get past the land area on that level, so I just thought it was just me being bad at games - assuming other players could get past this with more relative ease.
