Oh my gawd, I love the adorable snek animations! The transparent background is a nice touch, and the sky serpent minigame is a smart and excellent addition ^^

Very cute pet! I included it in my Virtual Pet Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to check it out. :)

Developer

Hiya! Thanks for the video review, very cool! I'm glad you liked the animations!

Snake get apple, music go dododo, me like a lot.

Great game! Loved how the apples were in sync with the music! Its nice to see another Godot dev around here! If im right, you used the transparent background setting to hide the window from the game! We used a similar approach to hide the background! Really great game and very good animations! :D

Developer

Thanks so much for your kind words! Yeah that transparent bg was a make-or-break setting for me, it's basically the one thing I really REALLY wanted to do for the jam, haha! I'm glad it's so easy to do in Godot!

I gotta figure out how you did the window, I didn't know you could do that with Godot, and I love the rhythm game

Developer(+1)

Thanks so much, the rhythm game has gotten a lot of love and I'm so happy! Removing the border is actually really easy, it's a combination of this video and calling get_tree().get_root().set_transparent_background(true) in your main script's _ready() method. You will have to add your own drag bar and minimize/exit buttons but that isn't too bad.

I wish I had known about this a week and a half ago, my vpet might have ended up living on the desktop instead of the browser page. Thanks for letting me know about this, I've already got a few ideas for some fun stuff to do with it

This is so CUTE. I love the animations, there's obviously a lot of love in them. Little coffee cup guy is my favorite.

The music for the snake mini game SLAPS. So good. And it looked really nice overall. I can't wait for more minigames!

Could you be convinced to share the project file? I'm learning godot myself but still getting the hang of trying to structure scene trees and communicate with signals.

Oh, and thank you for the linux build!

Developer

Thank you for your kind words! Mug ghost has turned out to be most everyone's favorite, it's quite the charmer! I'll see what I can do about getting the source up somewhere too. That would be a good excuse to figure out godot/github integration.

Surprised this worked on my system with wine, I would love to see a native linux build though. Also always nice to see a fellow godot dev! I like the game, it's really neat, I especially like the visuals and the different types of pets. I couldn't figure out how to play the minigames though.

Developer(+1)

Ahhhh thanks, I'm glad you liked it! I will definitely figure out how to do a native linux build, I just hadn't set that up by the end of the jam unfortunately. Also, there is only one minigame available at the moment, which is the snake's minigame! You can get to it by switching to the snake and then selecting the musical note on the bottom left!

A neat little game. The snake minigame was awesome
