I played Creepypasta Land and omg i love it! It's the most fun horror game ever:) Though it's kinda raw, with terrible language errors, silly characters and dialogues, but that makes even more fun.  At least at the beginning... I like that psychedelic bad ending much more than good ending for its resemblance with "Hello Charlotte"(which i adore so much<3) Definitely a great game!
Maybe that's not the version you were talking about, but i think it's the first version by Lukas Boato.

Haha now you know what I mean XD And the language errors are cause he's from Brazil and speaks Portuguese (if I remember correctly! But I think that's it!) But yeah he really just threw whatever he wanted in there for fun and even though it's slightly less professional, I love it! A work of pure passion. And fun fact, one of the graves references Rene Wurz-the youtuber who does the Creepypasta challenges I join! Watching him play Creepypasta land introduced me to both him and the RM horror genre. And now six and seven years later, he's playing my games! Blows my mind XD

I think it's only natural - next generation takes all the best from the previous and creates something new. I'm glad that i can watch this process ongoing:) But also i always try to know all about history of anything i have interest in, to find its "roots".
I've found a curious  topic on rpgmaker.net -  "rpgmaker games obscurity iceberg". Most titles at the bottom are nowhere to be found... Maybe you know some of them.

That is really interesting! Unfortunately I don't know any of the bottom tier ones-farthest down that I do know is Dead Dreams (second last tier). But I think it's awesome that there's an iceberg for that because I've been watching a lot of horror icebergs on Youtube... and I wonder how much the creator knows? Considering they know about them, they had to be able to find them somewhere!

It seems there are a lot of various icebergs, because i don't see Dead dreams in the one i've found:)) It's slightly different. And why is Wadanohara so low, and Lisa is too high?
Anyway, now i have a new goal - collecting all these long-forgotten games!
P.S. Those horror icebergs - do they arrange games by level of horror and suspense? Interesting...

Oh that's a good point! Looking back I found that there are some different ones <XD And I guess it depends on the one who makes the iceberg. I expected them to arrange by obscurity but based on what you said, maybe some of them really are by horror and suspense!

Some of those icebergs contain dozens of titles and i don't recognize any of them. Well, there is a lot for me to know about indie-games i guess:) And my biggest dream is that one day i will create something myself. I used to think that i don't have any talents, but now i see there are sooo many developers around the world and many of them are very young and do it just for fun, creating pretty good games in a matter of weeks. At first it seemed crazy to me, i thought "wow, you have to be a genius to do something like that*O*". But maybe  with modern software it's not as impossible as it looks like.

You should go for it! With engines like RPG maker it can be pretty easy to get into, and there are plenty of free resources you could use from art to music. You can start out with a small project and make it bigger from there if you find out you like it! And I would be really excited to see what you could do! What kind of games are you thinking of making? Or have you not decided yet (which is totally valid XD)?

I actually always had many ideas(but only in my head lol) that would look great in the form of manga or something like that, but it requires real talent for drawing and tons of free time( i definetely don't have those things). Though there are a lot of great games with very minimalistic design(like Undertale, Dweller's empty path, Yume nikki etc.) but with charismatic characters, unusual gameplay and intriguing story. I 'd try to learn from those. I think the best thing about game-developing is that you don't have to be the best artist, best writer or musician, but you can fuse a little bit of this and that into something good, if you really put your soul in it. I think i'm not that bad at writing and can learn to draw a little, the main problem is music - i don't know a thing about notes and all that stuff (though sometimes i can hear music in my head in that half-asleep state, but that doesn't help much^_^). But despite this i would try to make my game 100% my own, that's important. For example, i was a little disappointed when i found out that amazing soundtrack of "Hello Charlotte" was not of Etherane's authorship:(
As of what kind of game... I have a story that i already began to write couple years ago, but dropped it after writing 5-6 chapters. It's kind of surreal (mostly based on my dreams), and that's why it would fit perfectly - there are a lot of games like that!

Making original music and graphics would be a lot of extra work, but it would be so awesome and people would recognize that extra effort! Having control of it you could make every little detail complement each other! And the funny thing was I started by drawing comics and writing books but then went to games, which explains the story focus and the... minimalistic gameplay XD But I'm learning how to do it better. And I think basing it off dreams is a fantastic idea! That kind of thing really fascinates me, especially after seeing liminal space pictures and what not!
