I'm not 100% sure how I managed to beat the other pirates, but the idea is neat. Perhaps also add a chiptune sea shanty if you're planning on expanding the game in the future? ;) Also, the graphics remind me of some flash games I used to play, good memories!

Well good job, you're obviously a natural pirate! 🏴‍☠️🙂 100% agree with you, I wish I had worked with someone to do the sound, it is begging for a chiptune sea shanty! Thanks for the feedback.

A pretty cool tcg, graphics are the cleanest por a tcg game I've seen so far. If anything I'd say the gameplay is a little convoluted for a Jam game, but congrats for your first Jam game!

Thanks :-) I'm loving these positive comments on my programmer art. I found it quite therapeutic pushing pixels, and a good break from the coding and design challenges. I really should have gone with my first card game design - a much simpler version... having said that, this is the game I want to finish making now.

I love a gameboy card game! Even with the instructions perhaps it's a bit mechanically complex? I didn't really understand why I was able to play all my cards during the sailing phase, and why I wouldn't since I could. Perhaps because it would be at the cost of rum but I ended up with many hearts which seems to be the same thing? I think simplifying to one resource there may have helped. Either way a great prototype I'd enjoy seeing polished :]

Thanks for the feedback. It's true - that the game is a bit mechanically complex. My intention for the sailing phase of the battle was meant to be more of a game of wits - trying to decide if your opponent was going to try and outsail you to max out damage or grapple quickly. You might not play all cards depending on tactics... for example, you may hold onto a Carpenter card to reduce damage in a proceeding round - or build enough sails over 2-or-3 rounds to make sure your cannons hit. This decision was meant to be important as a played card wouldn't come back into play until the draw deck was empty, and the discard pile shuffled back into the draw deck. The other idea was to balance risk and reward; taking on a stronger ship for greater reward, but would require you to deal cannon damage to even the crew-to-crew fight. The prototype is a bit broken for now, or at least unbalanced with the prefixed deck. I'll certainly be releasing this game fully working. Oh... lots of hearts you say... ha, I did notice too late that there is a bug in the Musician card that ends up adding 20 hearts for free - which certainly broke the balance of rum and hearts lol.

wonderful graphics, very thought out.  keep up the nice work!

Thanks :-) Honestly, it's a well-received compliment, I'm a programmer, not a pixel artist, so to say the graphics were wonderful made my day.

I love the pirate theming and the animations are great. Unfortunate that because of the jam it doesn't have a proper tutorial. I wasn't entirely sure what I was doing half the time. Hope you update it afterwards to have one.

Glad you enjoyed the pirate theme. Thanks for the feedback - I think I will continue to develop this game further.
