Neat game! I included it in my Godot Community Jam compilation video series, if you’d like to take a look. :)

Thanks for reviewing our game! (although I noticed the recording was messed up? Just a single frame) Anywho I appreciate it!

Nice visuals and atmosphere, it needs better feedback on the movement (like a trail) and most interactive items did not said anything (a default WIP message can help while developing, to not get lost in the game feature hail :P).

Really good for a first project :D

Thank you! Yea we should have put some trail or something, that deadline just crept up so fast xD

Great work on your first Godot project! The atmosphere is great, and the visuals and sound effects are very nice. I really enjoyed the different character animations, it's impressive.

I ran into quite a few bugs/not-yet-implemented features which prevented really enjoying the story or finishing the game, for example:

- When outside, your speed decreases little by little (consistent with the low temperature theme), but it doesn't improve when you reach indoor areas, so you're basically stuck in 2 px/s mode. Worse, if you stay outside long enough, you can get a negative speed :) (you disappear, but when you try moving you are visible again and going in the opposite direction as pressed)

- Many items are highlighted as interactable, but most of them don't produce any effect. I assume it's just due to lack of time and I'm looking forward to an improved/polished post-jam version to fully experience the game :)

- Some texture on the ground would help to at least tell you that you are indeed moving - when you're in a corner of the camera you don't know if you're still advancing or if you reached an invisible wall.

Hey there, thank you so much for the in depth reply and feedback! It really does help. I'm glad you liked the visuals :D. Yea least to say we ran out of time and couldn't actually implement a lot of the interactable objects to function (and the negative speed bug too xD). Despite all the bugs we can't wait to keep developing it into an actual playable game! This was actually our first jam so it was a truly amazing first experience. No we didn't really end with something playable but we did create a really nice prototype to build on so thanks for hosting the jam! Again, thanks for the feedback :D

Developer

Thank you for the feedback! I am loving Godot so far and definitely plan to continue using it for future projects. I agree there were many bugs and unimplemented features that really prevented the enjoyment of the game. Unfortunately due to time, and of course the inevitable feature creeping (so hard to resist) not everything was finished or tested to what I wanted. The polish on mechanics is missing for sure. Despite that I'm very happy with the atmosphere and the visuals, props to hoovcat as I can't draw for the life of me, and the overall experience. It was in many ways a learning experience and getting used to how things work with Godot. I look forward to future jams :D and thank you for hosting!

Mac version doesn't launch. Will try the Linux build when I have a chance.

I'll let him know, hopefully we can fix it, we don't use macs so hopefully it will work.

Developer (1 edit)

Thank you for the heads up! Sorry for the long delay, I have uploaded a new build of the mac version. Unfortunately I do not own a mac to test it so crossing my fingers that it works.

The overall atmosphere is so great! While playing this there's lots of guessing and expectation bounce inside my head.

Thank you! Yea hopefully when we add more stuff to work properly it'll have a bit less guessing.
