I really enjoyed the game, the last level took a couple of tries, but it's a nice challenge. I do like the fact that you went with the 2-directional aiming, which can make for quite a fun challenge in horizontal corridors (like the first level), but I found it a bit frustrating in some of the vertical corridors in the second level. If you want to keep the limited aiming options (which I strongly recommend since I do find it an interesting mechanic), I see two ways in which you could make this a bit less frustrating for the player: make it so that the player can also shoot straight up or down, or make the levels even more horizontal. I see that you did try this, but I would try to make the vertical paths even shorter, or include some horizontal side-paths to vertical sections, in which you could kill the enemies more easily.

Overall I think the game shows potential and I hope you do keep the locked aiming, since it made the game more interesting for me at least. Great job :D

Nice job! I like the character animations. For a game like this, I think it would be helpful to shoot in the direction your mouse is pointing. As it is currently, I had to run away while charging, turn back around to shoot, run away, etc. I also think it could be fun if there were more enemies, but they took had less HP. It could lead to more chaos, and you wouldn't be wailing on the same guy for 4-5 hits. Aside from that, this was really well done. Keep it up!

Thank you for playing. The aiming system is kinda an experimentation on  my part, I wanted to see if it's feasible to only include two way aiming. It seem most player find it hard to use the system so I might scrap it later. I run out of time during the enemy design phase so I make do on what I have on that time haha.

Hey, I like the mechanic and pixel art! Level design could take some more polish, but the enemy AI is interesting, could be easily expanded in the future!

Developer(+1)

Thank you for playing. This is the first time I implemented any AI at all in my game, you're the first person to notice it haha. The only mechanic I think I did is the aiming system and most player don't really like it because of the limited angle the player can aim. I still got a long way to go, thank you again for stopping by.

It is really difficult but I like it. Great job!

Developer

Thank you for playing. I think the difficulty issue is due to the limited angle on the aiming system haha. I was trying to experiment stuff and it doesn't really work out.

Really nice pixel arts man :). Maybe you could use you mouse to "aim" even if it is only left and right, muscle memory told me that i can run to one direction and shot to the other, so that played against me. I managed to beat it and really like it :D

Developer

Thank you  for playing bruh. Yea, I don't think I should fight against the conventional method of aiming with mouse for top down games. I tried to invent kinda new aiming method where I don't have to create multiple sprite animation for each angle but it turn out as bad as I think it would be haha.

A nice short game! I thought the final wave  battle was a nice change of pace. The corridors were tricky in a good way though it would be nice to aim up and down as well. Very well done! :)

Developer

You can literally speedrun to the final stage haha. Yea, the aiming kinda sucks, it's failed experiment. Thank you for playing, I'll be sure to check your submission later.

I wondered whether you could run it to the end, but I didn't want to risk losing my life and run into a mob of enemies haha

Good start for a game, at beginning was hard to understand how to shoot.. buf I was able to kill some of the enemies with some practice.

Developer

Thank you, it was difficult to make sure the aiming work in 2 directional way.

Submitted(+1)

Maybe you could have the gun pointing at where the mouse is. Apart from that a nice top down shooter!

Developer(+1)

That's the catch. I wanted to see how far I can push with only 2 directional animation sprite. The fact that you're asking for more flexible aiming mean my current aiming system aint good enough and I need to improve on that. Thank you for playing.
