I'm  still a little confused as to how the game works, but the art is great! I also particularly like the FOV effect.

Reviewed!

Thanks for the review!! Yeah I agree that it's a bit too easy and lenient. Earlier in the development the game was a bit too hard, so I nerfed it, but I nerfed it way too much.

The function of the newspaper stands is so the news that "there is a sighting monster in town" is easily accessible to the citizens, and once a citizen reads the newspaper then they become a witness. That really should go in the tutorial for the jam page.. forgot about that.. Sorry.

Yeah, I agree with you that the sewer system needs work and that the objective of the game needs to be more clear. If I do patch it I'll tweak the citizens run speed, vent cooldowns, etc. I'm surprised you weren't able to reach the end screen cause there is a game over screen. Maybe it's cause there has to be 15 people in the map.

But yeah, thanks for the feedback. Really appreciated it!

the newspapers make more sense now! Lol either way, it was a good entry πŸ˜€

I liked to hide into the sewer and the story of the game, but i I can walk freely and nothing really happens, just the exclamation points and after a time i just loose :). I had sound (like an intro music) just at the beginning and them it went away.

Developer

Yeah I kinda screwed up sound for the game. (This is what I get for not testing enough). But yeah I agree there needs to be more player feedback and emphasis on the sewer. Thanks for playing! :)

I like the concept of the game!

This is a nice game! I would like to see all of the information on the game page put in the actual game , as it's not very clear how it works. I definitely like the sewer system, but I didn't really find myself using it because it was so easy to just kill one person, wait 3 seconds, and go kill the next. I suggest increasing the cooldown and adding more people to make the sewer more needed, because the fun part is really creeping up from a sewer, getting a cheeky kill and hiding again.  Overall, if you make it a bit harder and put more emphasis on the sewer system, it could be really fun!

Developer (1 edit)

Oof not going to lie, the game was pretty difficult in the begining but I guess I nerfed it way too much. Haha, if only I playtested instead of tweaking the variables at 2am in the night. The only thing I thought of putting in the sewer system is having the player go at a higher speed, but not anything else so I'll experiment with the sewers a bit. If we do patch the game I'll tweak it (a lot). Thanks for the feedback! :)

That sounds good, moving fast through the sewers would definitely help. Good luck!

Good idea, hiding yourself in another level of the map (:

Developer

Thanks!

its quite nice looking, i couldnt tell what was going on with the sewers at first. maybe some ladders or a change in lighting could make them feel different? im not sure i fully understand the intentions, but it has charm (:

Developer

If you don't fully understand the intentions of the game you can look at the game jam page for premise and tutorial information. If you already looked at the jam page and it's still confusing I don't blame you. The sewers are so you can hide from a large group of citizens and easily traverse the map. If we do patch the game I'll try to make the intentions of the game and the way you can interact with objects in the game more clear :)

Neat little game! Very charming artwork! Could use a little more in-game direction/feedback.

Always love to see a game made using Godot!

Developer

Yeah, I agree with you that the game needs to make what the player can interact with more clear/noticeable. And haha, we probably wouldn't be using Godot if it wasn't for Nooh_Alavi & maybe Waller..
