I have the same gripes with the gameplay as the others, but I think it's balanced out fairly well by the witty banter and cool overall style. The assets you guys used (the tilemaps for the levels especially) are definitely the weakest part of the visuals, while the custom stuff is definitely the best. So I think, given more time to make everything with that higher level of quality, you all can make something really special!

And I think it's a good indicator of your ability to write good jokes when the "No lights left meaning... No more cigarettes!?" followed immediately by the bone crunch sound effect made me laugh out loud! Please keep it up, this one is one of the best submissions in my opinion.

One little thing for if you end up updating this, I got softlocked in the room with the large monster skull that the stairs appear inside of. The character was trying to auto-move to some specific spot but couldn't, so all inputs were locked. Just adding an ability to restart the level when unable to use the lighter would be enough to make that less frustrating.

Definitely agree on the custom stuff- we had to crunch to get some of the stuff in and adapt to whatever tileset we could find, and I've accepted level decoration is not my forte. Our artist is super talented, and given more time, yeah I think we could've had a more cohesive look.

Yup we discovered that softlock like an hour before the deadline... I'm not sure about the rules on updating the game during game jam voting, but I have it fixed locally so I'll try to get that out at some point.

It was a good experience to learn that maybe the gameplay ideas we had in our heads need more validation, and we could've benefitted from more play testing rather than rushing to implement. Thank you for the feedback and we're glad you enjoyed!!
