Lovely art and music. I came in ready for a cute game, mostly visual novel type. But then the first spin of the wheel came and I got confused about how to use it. After a couple of tries (click anywhere to advance, click on the wheel, click and drag the arrow, and even trying to click and drag quickly to ‘launch it’), I exited the game to try and find instructions. They told me to launch the arrow. That made me a bit intimidated because I don’t love the idea of me having to do an action that requires dexterity and speed, and also because I had already tried that and apparently didn’t do it well enough to trigger the spin. I wasn’t expecting it and, to be truthful, it is not the easiest thing to do (use gestures) when you’re playing with a mouse or in my case a touchpad. It would be definitely different if I were using my drawing tablet or a touchscreen, but like this it’s not the best. So I think there could be control alternatives.
I also found it straining and higher effort to read the narration text, that is grey on black, so quite low contrast. So I’d also suggest a tweak on this.
In the email game, I took me a while to understand what I was meant to do. In fact, my whole first email, I simply clicked anytime, not worried about what slice to pick. I didn’t notice it had a gradient of colors from red to green and that it mattered and there was a correct one. In fact, because the ‘email writing’ was so quick and there was no time at all to read anything between the typing and the ‘choosing a slice on the wheel’, I couldn’t even guess or pick something from context, even if I wanted to pick the wrong on for my amusement, because I had no access to the context of the phrase.
It was only in the second email that I started seeing words that made sense and related to the meeting with Stella - and that was when I realized the wheel’s slices had different colors and the one that made the most sense by context (from the previous meeting) that I noticed it was green.
Thoughts while playing the game: Oh noooo not falling in love with your team lead! She is cute!
Oh no!!!! You’re not asking her out!!!
End notes: Cool that it has several endings. Unfortunate that there’s not much sound design throughout the game. The section between the lunch break and the end made me zone out and I skipped most of it. I didn’t understand what the nosy lady had to do with the story, or that event I skipped. Cute, but it could be more concise or more narratively connected/interactive, and improve on the UI things I’d mentioned before!
