The soundtrack is fantastic. the game itself is rather Basic and unoriginal to be honest with you.

The soundtrack is awesome :D I agree some kind of indicator before the jump would be good. Im not normally a huge flappy bird type but I made it to double digits a few times and had fun playing :)

Overall: Flappy Bird with a fresh idea, but a game-breaking input bug and a few rough edges need to be addressed before the good stuff can shine.

What Worked Well:

  • Death Feedback: Great screen shake, particle splash, and red tint on death. Good game juice.
  • Visual Details: The scrolling clouds look nice. The sun design and the wave circles around it are a nice touch.
  • Power-Ups: Having power-ups is a neat idea and honestly the strongest thing here. I haven't seen anyone take Flappy Bird and turn it into something genuinely fresh before. It's worth expanding on significantly.

Areas for Improvement:

  • Character Talk Slowdown: The slowdown that happens every time the character talks gets in the way of gameplay. Worse, it forces an involuntary flap, which can straight up kill you for no reason. That's game breaking and needs to be fixed.
  • Power-Up Placement: Power-ups sometimes appear in unreachable areas. They should always be spawned somewhere the player can actually get to.
  • Tree Pop-In: Trees pop into view at the edge of the screen. They should be pre-loaded and scroll in so the appearance feels seamless.
  • Navigation Buttons: The ESC key doesn't work to back out of the shop in fullscreen since the browser intercepts it. You need actual back buttons to return to the start screen or enter the shop, with proper hover and click states.

Thanks for trying it, I think you misunderstood the slow motion, it does not happen when the character talks, but when it makes you jump, so you have time to understand what the character did. The power-up placement had some issues, my bad! I didn’t see that with the tree, but if I ever update I’ll add that! Good point with the ESC key. I should have thought of that. I’ll give yours a try! Thanks!

You made a fun game! I enjoyed it. The only suggestion I have is some kind of indication before the coconut goes out of control. For example, a second before, its sprite could start vibrating, or slightly change to a red tint, or its facial expression could shift. That would make it feel fairer to the player, in my opinion. Anyway, I wish you success going forward!

That’s an amazing idea! I should have done that, thanks!
