After jam  tips

  • get some rest a day or so
  • rate other people games and leave comments like critique or tips and be nice
  • there will be 24h to fix bugs add futures you couldnt add or polish the game more
  • DONT ASK PEOPLE TO RATE YOUR GAME
  • rate people fairly
  • stick to the median (the median is the minmum rating count you need to get to not get a score reduction)
  • keep the karma above 1 (karma is the ratio between your rating count and your game rate count)
  • to know all that stuff like karma and median and popularty head to this website
  • if you didnt get what did you expect dont get disapointed its ok thats just a fun jam nothing serious like your whole life wont depend on it

  • "DONT ASK PEOPLE TO RATE YOUR GAME" - why?
(+20)(-1)

It is generally considered rude - rate 4 rate posts will be EVERYWHERE, and the people posting them often don't actually rate back - or if they do, they just give you 3 stars in everything and comment "good game".

The best way to get ratings is to comment on lots of games, with nice, constructive feedback!

Hello, after submitting, i noticed the "submissions" button had disappeared and both my submissions ( Tide-Breaker Overdrive and NEON ) were disqualified, so I wanted to ask for a some clarification on why it might have happened.

I double checked the rules and saw that the use of pre-existing code/ assets were allowed, so I assumed it was okay to submit projects that already had previous development history or jam submissions, as long as the rules were not broken and theme was applied.  After finding out of the disqualification, i went back to re-check the rules on both the discord server and here ( on itch ) but still didn't know why it was disqualified.

Can you please help me understand what specifically caused the disqualification? I’m not trying to contest the decision you and the team have made, in fact, i only want to play games, have people play my games and have fun doing so.

Thanks for organizing the jam!

Hi - sorry, projects that were started before the jam are not allowed. The general rule is that you should not make any progress towards a specific idea before the jam starts. Existing code/assets refers to tools only, reusable stuff that works for any idea. Games that don't follow the theme will also be disqualified. The point of a jam is to make a game within the given timeframe (7 days starting on the 19th.

Understood.

Thanks a lot for the clarification...🙏
