Project Overview:

Aether Legacy is an upcoming mobile MMORPG developed in Godot. We are currently scaling up for our next milestones and are looking for a talented Pixel Artist to create a comprehensive set of modular character assets and equipment.

The Task:

We need a modular system designed for 2D skeletal animation (Bone2D/Skeleton2D). The assets must be sliced and compatible for layering and equipment swapping.

Deliverables:

Modular Characters: Human and Elf races (Both Male and Female versions). Base bodies must be compatible with modular gear.

Modular Armor: 5 distinct armor sets, each with Male and Female variations (total of 10 visual versions).

Weapon Sets (5 tiers/variations each):

5 Axes

5 Swords

5 Grimoires

5 Holy Staves

Technical Requirements:

Style: High-quality 2D Pixel Art.

Modular Design: Assets must be delivered in a way that allows for independent movement of limbs, head, and torso (ready for skeletal rigging).

Mobile Optimization: Textures and sprite sizes must be optimized for mobile performance without losing visual clarity.

Engine: Experience working with Godot-friendly asset structures is a huge plus.

How to Apply:

Please send a link to your portfolio, specifically highlighting any previous work with modular characters or pixel art for RPGs.

We are looking for a consistent art style that can grow with the project. Let us know your rates and estimated timeline for this scope of work.

Deadline: May 20th

Hi there,

I'd love to offer my game art studio to help you out — modular pixel rigs for Bone2D is the kind of puzzle my team enjoys.

Please check our showreel on our Awwwards-winning website: https://outstandly.com/gamedev/

and more pixel art work is here!: https://docs.google.com/presentation/d/116XfyBN0a5a2_FpOwK7NB38UZXA4GeEd-8ezCP_5RoQ/edit?slide=id.g358e532fe15_0_43#slide=id.g358e532fe15_0_43

For Aether Legacy, my team can cover the full modular character pipeline — base body sets, sliced gear/equipment layers built to swap cleanly across the skeleton, and the rigging + skeletal animation itself in Godot's Bone2D/Skeleton2D (idles, walks/runs, attacks, skills, hit/death, etc.). We can also help with the upstream concepting for classes and gear tiers, and the downstream side of getting everything imported and animation-ready inside Godot, so you're not stuck stitching it together. Pricing depends a lot on resolution, silhouette complexity, how many gear slots/tiers you want modular, and animation count per character — once I see that, I can give you a proper per-character and per-gear-piece rate.

if you'd like to learn a bit more on how we work, here is a bit cheesy article on that matter that I'm meaning to rewrite for the past 5 years 😱: https://blog.outstandly.com/how-do-we-work-and-other-frequently-asked-questions/

Could you share some style references, the target resolution, and a rough list of character classes + gear slots/tiers you want modular? Based on that, I'll be happy to calculate the production costs for ya.

Cheers,
Serhii

Find me on Discord so we can discuss pricing.

Hi! I’ve worked extensively on modular pixel art for RPGs and have experience creating assets that are optimized for mobile performance. I’m confident I can design the character sets, armor and weapons you need ensuring they are ready for skeletal animation. Could you share any specific references or preferences for the art style?

Dragon Egg Studio

I'm The Chromatic, Dragon Egg Studio's lead 2D/3D artist. A modular pixel system for a mobile MMORPG — gendered human and elf bodies, layered armor sets, four weapon classes across five tiers each — is the exact kind of long-arc art contract I'm built for, and Aether Legacy's scope is one I can carry through to delivery on a single contract.

Modular character art for mobile is right in my wheelhouse. I'm comfortable slicing assets for Bone2D/Skeleton2D rigging, keeping limb/torso/head separations clean for independent skeletal motion, and structuring atlases so they hold up on phone hardware without losing pixel clarity. Godot's import pipeline is straightforward to deliver into. The studio behind Temple Run 2 — a billion-plus mobile downloads — sets the performance-aware bar I work to every day.

You'd be hiring me — not the whole party. I'd be your single point of contact for the entire deliverable: human and elf base bodies, the five armor sets across both genders, all twenty weapons. I see projects through to completion, and I won't be replaced without your knowledge and consent. The studio's resources behind me mean senior backup if a technical question on rigging or atlas optimization comes up — never a competing priority on your timeline.

May 20th is tight but workable for a focused contract. Before I quote, I'd want a quick chat about priority order — which race and which armor sets need to land first if we're staging the work — and target sprite dimensions for your mobile build. Portfolio samples and rate quote ready to share.

Ready to talk scope and timeline whenever you are.
