What's going on? Are you ok? I'm trying, but recently I've been sad. My pc has been acting mean. It is old and I would like a Desktop PC. I'm getting tried of laptops.

Pull the machine apart and give it a clean. Try delete some files to free up space. Hang though my friend.

I'm in a similiar boat. I'd love a new desktop computer, but everything is far too expensive atm to afford anything

You can give a second life to your old PC by installing Linux on it. The low resource requirement make it run smoothly even on 10 years old PC.

I can guarantee you your pc isn't worse than mine...

if your issue is RAM, try buying more ram. 8gb of ram often is enough for me, though I'm definitively not a gamer (and I'm going to assume that only rich people can afford 64gb nowadays)

You can also take some files you don't use anymore out of your computer. Remove programs you don't need, big files you wont use anymore, etc

You can also do some management of what you have open. Right now I have edge with one tab, notepad, and the file explorer open. And I rarely let more stuff open at once, so that I can use all my performance into only the programs I'm using

I would also recommend disabling startup programs (those programs that start with your computer), as while your computer is initializing, it is slow, and heavy programs like steam wont really help (I just let the barebone stuff like audio drivers load with my computer lol)

If you start needing to go more extreme, try changing the programs you use to lighter ones (e.g., change programs like visual studio to vs code, which is lighter). If you can't learn new programs, then at least use older versions of the ones you already use (I use unity 5 :psycho laughter:)

In last resort, I heard that Linux is pretty light compared to windows (and that it is straight up better than windows 11). I won't advice you changing OSes, as this will be painfully boring and hard at the beginning - but not impossible, and if this doesn't make your pc lighter, then just buy a new one already lol

You can make the OS transition easy on yourself (or use the benefits of both OS): install Linux alongside Windows. Thus you'll be able to choose the OS you run when you boot your PC.

I just found out my copy that I gave my family of my book had a whole chapter missing!! And I put it in free libraries around here too. Kinda wanna die a bit
