Simple but very fun game,  and also a looker. The only "problem" I had was the music, the loop got old very fast, but thats a small issue.  Definetely one of my favs so far. Nice work.

Developer

Thanks! This experience thought me to always add a toggle for music. I also just figured out it is not looping quite as it should which makes it a lot more noticeable, but yeah, some like it some hate it.

I went down with the ship! I had no idea what i was getting into. I shot a tentacle, evaded some rocks, plotted a path, but died too soon. This was pretty cool. Thanks for the game!

oh wanted to say i love the dithering on the graphics. the game lagged a bit but i think that just happens on the html5 build sometimes. it only happened when i was doing something, like something new was being added to the level, like a cannon ball or tentacle, then it ran buttery smooth.

There is a thing called "preloading" which I only learned about yesterday. That might be what's causing the lag spikes. Shame on me.

Jokes aside, happy to hear that you enjoyed!

oh yeah i need to learn when to use godot's load and preload better, myself. i'm le noob

YO hooooooooooo hoooooooo!

I like this idea and killing monsters, idk why but your game lagged a bit too on the Web. But still with this 10/10 great job! Great: gameplay, idea, pretty visuals, sfx

I appreciate the kind words! The Web build does struggle a bit (T-T).

Really fun game loop love the art style. 3d models had just the right amount of details . the rocking boat really sold the driving a ship feeling .the wheel control is bit hard but the canon game was fun. I enjoyed the simple music loop. the game feels really polished.

Thanks for the kind words! I worked a lot on polish, happy to see that the effort wasn't in vain.

The main idea and the monsters are super supe cool and i really liked the game loop, but in the other hand the music is too much, I think this would have been amazing with some ambient effects, instead of the music, i think it was a missed opportunity, but overall this was really good, one of the best for the games for the jam! great work!

Developer

Glad you enjoyed! I appreciate the feedback. You are right, music does tend to be quite subjective, doesn't it? I'll make sure to add a way to toggle it on and off in the future.

that would be perfect! this project realy has potential!

Really like the game.  I struggled a little with understanding that the cannon balls are not in every chest but this was a fun game and I really liked the audio cues on this.  It made it so I knew what was going on even though the map was so dark.  Liked the atmosphere of the game and everything seemed to go well together.

Developer

Thanks for the compliments, I'm happy to see that people are enjoying it!

I love the visual of the game. I like the art direction, and the audio 10/10.  I have a problem with looking around the game, I can't really see where the ship is going. Overall, I love the game :D

I'm glad you liked it! The lighting is intentionally this dark, it's a tough to find the sweet spot between too dark and too light!

I like the visual style of the game. It was quite simple and quite fun, but I was a bit lost on the theme's incorporation. I assume it's the lanterns turning off? Them "Eroding" over time and needing to be turned back on? That's just a guess, though, as it was not really obvious how it was incorporated.

I can really see the Iron Lung inspiration with the map and limited vision, though. Really great project you've put forward here, I'm excited to see what's next.

>> I found on the web client that I experienced some pretty heavy lag spikes initially, where the game completely froze, but it seemed to die down over time. I assume this is because the loading time of things had been cached and thus did not freeze the game to load in.

>> Some minor rubber banding was also experienced.

>> Although it's in the game's description, I feel it would have been nice to be told about the mechanics in-game. Such as controlling the ship, turning the lanterns back on and how to find the cannonballs. It made the first play-through a little rough.

Overall: Really fun little game, and I'd love to see more projects. The dithering graphics are probably my favourite part of this project.

Wow thanks for the feedback! The original idea was indeed the ship being slowly eroded away by the enemies etc., it somewhat got lost by the end of the jam. (• p•)
