Fun platformer with some nice puzzle ideas and nice music too.

A Cave of Ice and Fire was very unique from other platformers I have tried in the jam. I liked the mechanic of switching between the fire and ice to complete the levels. Each level was interesting and fun to figure out. The music and sfx were really cute and gave personality to the character. There were a couple places where I got stuck. In the image below, I went off map ever so slightly to pull the lever and I got stuck and had to start over. I was impressed by the amount of levels that were designed. I did find the spikes a bit hard to navigate, getting close next to them would kill you, so it was hard to figure out how close I could get to jump over them. Overall the simplicity and diversity of the levels left me wanting to play more! Congrats on the game!

Even if this wasn't your first game jam this would be really awesome game. I like sounds when changing from cold to hot and seeing that you made them yourself I can just say you great job. Also the level design is great because it is fairly challenging while still being fun. Overall good job! :)

Thanks! My friend made the music though, so not all credit goes to me! :)

The spikes were a little too unforgiving such as them hitting you from the sides and a bit too many sounds playing at the same time at the one level with all the spikes. That said, it was a quite enjoyable little platformer. I was really impressed at just how many levels you included and the creativity in the design of the many levels. Well done!

Great game, especially for a first jam AND considering that you made all the assets! The fire/ice mechanics definitely helped make the platforming more interesting, and you struck a good balance between challenge and leniency in the level design. I hope you keep making games!

Honestly really enjoyable to play ! The concept is quite simple but I still had a lot of fun. Thanks !

Really smooth and enjoyable game. Gameplay is simple but solid. I really liked the fire and ice mechanics. I also noticed that when the character leaves the screen you cannot go back to the level. But great work!

This is really good! The level design is really nice, good job. It sort of reminded me of The End is Nigh

A few notes:

- The spike hitbox hits you if you run into a wall and touch the edge, even if it feels like you definitely should not get hit

- Sometimes, you don't see a ceiling, and you can go offscreen. Other times, you don't see a ceiling, but you can't. It's a little confusing

- There's a level early on where the ground is [normal ground][ice][normal ground][ice][normal ground] and the collisions make it so you can't just slide, you get blocked on the edge of the ice. It's not that big of a deal, but it's noticeable. Maybe if you made the collision shape round, and fixed the player's rotation, that would fix that?

- really minor but it might have been fun for ice blocks to have sliding physics. Maybe not, I don't know, it just felt like they would before trying it

Thank you for your submission! and good luck with the jam

yeah a few of these are things i was going to fix later but just ran out of time to.  i probably should've done that last one but i was like 10 levels in before i remembered that stuff slides on ice :P

This is a really cute platformer! I had a lot of fun playing through it. I liked how you used the switching mechanic in the later levels.
