Lots of features packed in for such a little amount of development time. You should be proud how much you achieved!

Developer

Thanks a lot! Appreciate the kind words. We tend to forget what we have achieved at times, it is mostly my partner's passionate work that has achieved it. I was there mostly to limit it so it won't feel incomplete due to countless features. So this somehow balanced things to some level. Surely it is far from perfect, but it is something to be proud of. Looking back and seeing all the milestones can feel mind-blowing. Everyone should sometimes pause and look back to see their milestones and feel proud.

really charming entry, huge dome keeper vibes with the mining loop which i love. the base building mechanics on top add a nice touch too

only gripe is the ladder controls felt a bit awkward when panic climbing back up for air lol, maybe rebind that? otherwise super solid jam game, lots of potential here!

Developer

Thanks a lot! Controls definitely need some work.

This is a really full-featured game for a game jam, and the mechanics are well implemented. I ran into a few frustrations, like the placement of the ladder key, and having to wait for new ladders to get out of my (perhaps foolishly placed) hellevator. I also felt that holding right-click would be convenient instead of having to click each dig. On my initial play, I didn't understand the necessity of building a mine you can easily climb out of, and found myself in a cycle of just waiting for ladder CD. You might be able to indicate a good mine shape to the player by having a partially pre-dug mine next to the start, so the player can see an idea of what they should be doing. I know the difficulties of scope creep in game jams, though in a full release it could be nice to have upgrades for the pickaxe to allow mining different types of rock, which would allow you as designers to set a sort of "tutorial path" of mineable rock in the upper layer without limiting the player's eventual freedom to mine everything. All in all a really well done game with a lot of potential for expansion!

Developer

Thanks for the detailed feedback. The game needs lots of work to feel more convenient. As we have stacked it with features, it was really hard to make it clear for the players. Without the final day changes, it would be even more frustrating. I was worried players would struggle even more, but glad it is mostly positive. Planning to improve it further, considering all the comments, including setting the key "R" for laddeR. Thank you again for point it all out.

I have noticed my partner skyrocketing out somehow. I have tried it and could execute it successfully sometimes. I think it is W + SPACE keys getting pressed barbarically. Then the astrominer sort of flies out of the hellevator. It is a fun little feature right now, but I am not sure if we should keep in a more improved version or just reveal it fully and make it a clearer feature.

Great job on that one! Everything is put well together and the game feels polished. I'd only change the ladder button to be somewhere closer to the WASD for easier access and maybe add a chill simple music on the background for the vibes! But overall good job!

Totally agree. Just things got out of our mind. We will surely apply those changes after the jam. Thanks for the feedback.

Took me a while to get the hang of the controls and what to do, but once I did, I had a good time. Great job!

Developer

Thanks for the feedback. Glad to hear you liked it!

Game was nice but very clunky. I like the main menu and planet generation it was pretty cool. reminds me of "starbound" and that other game called "dome keeper"

if u work on the game again id love to playtest it

Developer

Thank you! What do you mean by clunky? Is it the progression, controls, or something else?

Submitted

yeah controls and traverse-ability, mostly. its easy to get stuck in the terrain, and having to go back the exact way u came up every time feels a bit limiting. Especially when u mine all over the place and have to constantly place ladders instead of making a new way up. Over all, it was pretty fun and like i said id love to see this project grow more. Ive been waiting for a game like this for a while.

Fun little game! Really great work on the terrain generation system, it's super cool to see something like this made for a jam.

I like the chill mining atmosphere, and that you can kind of go at your own pace (as long as you're keeping your oxygen up, of course)

I mined 10,000 andromeda crystals for the  Empire!

Great work.
