I looked for news about it and couldn't find anything. What's going on?

According to Turkiye Today, a law would require digital game services to have an office and reps in Turkiye or have their bandwidth reduced by 90%.

In the face of that, Itch is probably the least capable of any distribution site to be able to do anything. This is ultimately a very minor site run by, comparatively, few people.

Does 90% bandwidth throttling really matter for itch?  This is a platform for small indie games, not 60GB AAA slop.

Well, if I use my download speed of about 500 megabits, that brings it down to 50, which is about 6 megabytes per second. So yeah, most games on Itch would still have reasonable download times.

Sounds like a cute way to say they banned videogames, except tiny indies?

unfortunately, yes :/

Actually, that proposed law is especially a ban on tiny indie titles. They lack the money to get an official age rating.
