Very cute and cozy! nice job. I know this is not exactly my type of game, but I can super appreciate all the love that went into it, it was very relaxing to just paint stuff :)
cute game!! i think if this was continued as a full jam game i'd like it if there were better camera control as well as finer control, both in how you paint + attach stuff to other stuff as well as more paint styles, like something more reflective or generally with a different texture. very cool, though
Thank you so much :D. I definitely agree that more control and customization would be great. I did think about having the paint be more reflective, but just setting up the painting mechanics so that they functioned well was already enough of a challenge for a jam, but it is definitely something I would expand on. Thank you for the feedback!
This was really cool! I love making stuff. I would love to see the code for the painting 3D objects if you're willing to share. I made a smiley face stool. :) The 3D characters and little stories were cute.
It would have been nice if I didn't have to reload the game to try another object. I also had no idea what was going on at first because I started with the middle object. It wasn't until I did the stool that I understood I could paint individual pieces. I also noticed a bug where sometimes the left-click painted and sometimes it rotated, and I just kept right- and left-clicking until I could paint again. That was rather frustrating.
This was a really great start to a cozy game. I'd love it if you could do something with the things you decorate, like place them in your workroom to decorate it!
Thank you, glad you enjoyed it! I agree that there should have been some other way then just the exit button after building to switch objects. The idea with the left mouse is that it rotates if you start clicking not on the object and paints if you start out clicking on the object, sorry if it caused confusion (unless you found some new bug). Thanks for the feedback!
(Also the code is a bit of a 𝓂𝑒𝓈𝓈, so idk if it would be useful, but the main functionality comes from here. Basically finding the UV position and stamping a texture there. If I go back and improve the code I'm probably going to post :D)
Thanks. I took a look and it's definitely inefficient if you have to reset the material every frame. But it seems to work pretty well. How did you save the changes made to the material?
Great job! I am impressed with you being able to create paint tools for the Jam.
I do think that the paint tools do get blocked by the exit button. So it does get a bit hard to do the painting if you add in the pieces.
Thank you so much! I agree that the exit button covering the paint brushes is quite inconvenient, I just didn't get around to moving it as the paint brushes were added decently late into development. Thanks for your feedback :D
This is very creative, I like the cut scenes and your set up with the painting system, being able to paint individual parts.
Nice work.
Thank you so much :D
Really great approach to theme!
I love how you made this build mode and paint. Just great idea that is simple but just fun and creative.
I appreciate you build story behind it!
Great job and congratulations on your submission!
Thank you so much! Glad you liked the paint mechanic :D
Omg this is so cute! The cutscenes are amazing and I think your take on the theme is really really good and fits the jam super well! The painting mechanic works well. :)
Thank you so much :DD
Bonus for a very literal interpretation of the theme. The controls I understand are intuitive and responsive, but was a little frustrating until I discovered the conditions for completing the assembly of the item. Super chill and beautiful hands-on crafting game!
Thank you so much :D
Glad the controls were intuitive and you were able to figure it out.
