Game Description
A narrative driven 2D puzzle-platformer! Join Trash Panda as he strives for the better life that all raccoons deserve. With his handy wad of chewing gum he will float, stick, and whip his way through the suburbs he so wants to escape. Maybe along the way he’ll figure out what life is really all about.

How does your game tie into the theme?
Our raccoon hero uses a single piece of gum throughout the game and repurposes it to accomplish different tasks! This one piece of gum can be used as a whip, as a balloon, or as sticky boots.

Funny trash panda and profound ending!  A lot of right clicking tho

I liked the idea for this one, and how everything comes together at the end. Personally I felt like the bubble gum draining constantly was unnecessary. Otherwise it was quite fun, and the ending was well done. Nice job!

You have a really good idea. The story about the racoon looking for trash is great. The platforming controls are well done. I like the introduction of the different uses of the gum and having the last level be the one where you can choose which power to use. This shows potential for a complete experience with more powers and more levels.

In the last level where you can use all three powers, the sticky gum had less uses than the balloon. It’s easier to go up with the balloon. Maybe the sticky gum can be used in platforming where you need to go carefully down a path, instead of just jumping down.

Great submission, good job!

Very original bubble-gum mechanics.

It was nice to discover them separately in first levels to get a freedom to choose all of them in the last one. I see a potential for a lot of new levels with this arsenal. Maybe the "baloon" make the "sticky" ability less usefull as I found it easier to use the baloon to get over obstacles.

I like that you were able to tell a whole story in a relatively short game.

Racoon is adorable and chewing gum somehow only adds to it. Some tiles were much less detailed then the rest of the game, but I understand there is too little time to create perfect resources.

I really enjoyed playing your game. Nice job!

Here is what I liked:

  • The graphics where great
  • Music wasn't distracting but filled any void
  • SFX made it clear when something was activated, hit, or hit
  • Levels are fun to navigate through using the gum powers

My only problem with the game:

  • Bubble gum meter was more of an annoyance than it was making me change the way I play.
  • Bubble gum right click to increase meter was kind of pointless. I think if it just reset once the player hit the ground it would of been fine.

Overall cute game had fun and beat all the levels hope to see more of your games!

Love that all the abilities come back for the end, everything is very cute and charming! Although the balloon ability let me speed run though most of that section. You can left and right click at the same time to fly forever, simple fix though, just making it so you can only chew the gum on the ground. Still very cool!

Mechanics are creative and make playing through the levels very fun. Art for the textbox sprites is great!

This was short and sweet.

I like cartoon animals and the main character is a good one. I like how expressive is its face in the “cutscenes”, good job there. The graphics is nice, the only thing I would criticize is that there are multiple graphical styles that don’t fit that well together: the pixelated main character, the cartoon background drawn with straight clean lines, the landfill being just a pile of icons.

I feel the theme is kinda forced. The main focus of the story is on returning back to the old ways, that’s not really repurposing I think. The mechanics are more fitting, though in the end it was just a platformer with more-or-less ordinary abilities.

I had issues with the controls. The window for sticking to a wall is quite tight, I couldn’t reliably hit it (in contrast with the other abilities that are very forgiving). I would recommend to make it so that the player can hold a button and the character will stick when it comes close to a surface automatically.

Another issue was that I did go out of bounds several times, even without trying. (First time was in the sewers: I leaped over the trash pile, expecting to hit a wall, and had to reset the level instead.)

I also kinda dislike how the walkable roofs are not slopes but stairs and require constant jumping.

The chewing mechanic, though thematic, doesn’t add anything to the game, I had always plenty time to rechew my gum between ability uses, no rationing or tight timing (though I probably wouldn’t like high difficulty here). Too bad the chewing sound is the worst and most annoying in the game, as the chewing is the most frequent action.

At the end, I really hoped there would be an easter egg, that I could turn back and return to the forest, with a short cutscene showing my character chilling with the clock on the wall and under the radioactive lighting :-). Instead, jumping to the left got me out of bounds again.

Edit: forgot to add note about accessibility: the game is a very visual, it wouldn’t make much sense to add any visual-impairment-related accessibility options. The completely missing options are a problem though: I would like the ability to turn off the sound effects. The credits are problematic too, almost unreadable in the default window size. You have a lot of blank space there, use it!
