Game description
Tsunami Run is a side-scrolling jungle pixel-art RPG where you play as a lone character sprinting through dense jungle platforms, dodging traps, avoiding mobs, all while a massive tsunami wave chases you from behind. Your objective is to reach safe shelter before the tsunami overtakes you.

Theme interpretation
Players have to escape from the massive tsunami WAVE by weaving their way to the safe shelter. Originally wanted to add sonar waves as a weapons but had not enough time.

Nice game, especially the idea. I have a few suggestions for you that you can work on:

  • The QR Code for the Feedback form didn't seem to work (It said that it had expired)
  • The camera system can be improved. Consider adding dead zones, camera collision, etc. (This video might help: Video)
  • I like the simple tutorial, but the text about threats (enemies, spikes, ...) could be moved to the left so the Player sees it before encountering them.
  • Please add more SoundEffects (especially for the tsunami that slowly approaches the Player and maybe a SFX when you collect all 3 stars). A few examples: Walk, jump and enemy sounds. For the tsunami: Add a lowpass heartbeat effect or a visual indicator or sth to let players know they better hurry up.
  • I like the art style and the parallax background of your game.

Nice concept, keep working on this game! Well done :)

Cool game! I like the pixel art! I'm not an expert in platformers but jumping didn't seem to work well when going down an incline — kept tripping me up.

Really charming presentation, the graphics and audio are spot-on. The difficulty felt pretty steep, though... I’m guessing the game is balanced around having a weapon? And level 2 suddenly running in slow-mo was a weird curveball. Still, heaps of style here!

This was a fun little platformer! I loved the tsunami mechanic, and the levels were challenging and fun! A suggestion,  as an artist, is to keep consistent pixel sizes between all of your artwork in the game! I notice how the bats have much bigger pixels than the spikes, it will look a lot more uniform and cohesive if you make sure you keep the pixel sizes the same. Really solid game, loved it.

Fun interpretation of the theme and pretty good game especially for your first! I really liked the artwork, I think you did a great job, keep it up!!!

Hi! Thank you so much for the positive feedback! It is really encouraging. I have also played your game btw and I love it! Although it was confusing as in how to play in the beginning, but I after some tries I finally get it and it's fun!

Funny game, i love it. Challenging but not overwhelming. You maybe can make the wave be "wavy shape" and maybe animate it, but i can understand time constraints. The song and fx are also good, you can maybe raise the background song volume a bit.

BUG: GUI are HUGE on my screen, i don't know if it is a problem with my browser (using Chrome) or something else.

Tell me i you change or add anything new so i can play it again ")

Edited to say: Disregard original comment (sort of)– only the opening UI was too big, but I was able to get into the game. The game itself was nice and used the theme well.

In the godot settings, I think you need to choose a stretch mode and re-export image.png

THANK YOU SOO MUCH! I've actually been trying to find the solution to this and ended up just adjusting the GUI size manually.  But thanks to this I can finally get it right! Really appreciate it! Thank you for the feedback too!

yea i think it is a bug, but you actually can play (by clicking the half of the huge buttons that are visible), it is an enjoyable game! Only the GUI are huge, the gameplay is normal
