gonna talk abt step 2 cause icl idgaf abt step 1 school situation thats a bunch of ten y/os who gaf 😹✌️in step 2 osei is bullied (cause he’s autistic AND has beef w qiu and yk how high schoolers r when ur neurodivergent and do not like the most popular kid in the school chat 😪) but also kind of ‘feared’ (not in an edgy way, more in a ‘this-guy-can-and-WILL-beat-my-ass ‘way) because he gets into fights a lot both off and on school grounds. he’s also tall as hell for a fourteen-year-old so yeah. but he hates everyone too lso it cancels out.
yu-ming is a sweetheart and the president of the stuco at riverview peak!! she’s also the harp player for the school band, and she’s loved by most if not everybody and loves them all back just as much 💗💗 this does not mean she’s spineless or ditzy though, and will very much be blunt with you if needed.
Ai is very, very popular! She's polite, caring (at least it seems) and knows exactly what you feel and want! She and qiu were always the beloved gal and pal of the school, even after she became highschooler, she's even more popular! She always spread rumours about her and qiu being in relationship since she was 13, and since qiu never denied that (bc he doesn't even know about the rumours) the whole school thinks that's the case
Maki's fairly content with being alone in Step 1, so it was a bit hard to get a read on him. Smart is one word, since he knew most of the school material.
Step 2 is a little more open on his end. He still doesn't usually go up to people on his own accord, but he's now known as the kid who has every school supply known to man. Pencil? Ask him. Scissors? Right out the backpack. A can?.. I don't know why you'd need that, but yeah, he was working on an art project yesterday so here you go.
Cassie in Step 1 is everyone's friend. Her energy is hard to keep up with even for a few extroverts, but she's always sweet, so most people are able to accept her as she is.
She doesn't change much in that aspect in Step 2, though she notably has more close friendships than just having every person in her circle. She's pretty much at any social gathering if one of her friends is there.
X (Xander) in Step 1... basically he's the kid who acts out for attention, but when you give it to him, he doesn't know what to do and pushes you away. Most people aren't able to have a positive view on him because of this.
In Step 2, he's less bratty and more just sarcastic. This is where he's seen in a more positive light because now instead of just mean, he's rude with a sense of humor. Accidental humor.
Dot is well known, sometimes plays with the other kids, it's a so-so situation in step 1. Step 2 is where she knows people, but isn't in any particular group, she's more or less in the background.
Shù gets the weird kid title in step 1 and 2, people don't like that she doesn't talk, he still only has Qiu and Tamarack as friends, and those two are pretty much the only kids in the school that knows the reason why they're so quiet
Cran gets avoided a lot during step 1, kids think he's intimidating, but in step 2, he manages to get a major boost in popularity, much to his confusion. He had at least one confession from between step 1 and 2
Fran was a popular kid in step 1, step 2 they're infamous and is met with glares by pretty much everybody. They think it's hilarious on the switch-up and isn't bothered in the least.
Ari shoos everyone away, so nobody liked him in step 1, but in step 2, he's quite popular, oddly charismatic whenever he's not being rude. He mainly gets dragged around by that certain group of boys who always have sports on the mind. (He hates it)
Hee-jin is well known, but kept to herself, so people admire her from a distance, in step 2, getting out of her bubble, she's surrounded by a group of admirers.
Phya is deemed the teacher's pet, the mature part of Phya understands why kids don't like teacher's pets but the 10-year-old side of him is heartbroken that they don't want to play with him. In step 2 it's status as the 'teacher's pet' is still there, but it doesn't care much about the opinion of others.
Melody is a sweet but painfully shy kid in step 1, basically clinging to qiu like a leech, she looks up to tamarack as well but not as much, in step 2 shes a bit more open but is in love with both qiu and tamarack and doesnt know what to do about it, shes apart of student council (heh pretend they have that) she learned how to sow, and a bit like tamarack, acts like the world will break apart if she makes a single mistake, leading to her being diagnosed with OCD, she still clings to qiu (and everyone thinks she and qiu are dating) ALSOOOO she'd probably have a gardening club to tend to flowers, she'd also volunteer at an animal shelter, ironically she also collects shiny trinkets
