Very creative take, immaculate vibe, and great execution. As others said, love that the "pet" isn't something typical. Great job the music/SFX too - actually nice track to listen to and birdsong was a nice touch. Lots of things to compliment tbh! For a 7d game it oozes quality.
Thank you for playing! I'm glad the idea struck a chord with you and appreciate the praise! We wanted to challenge ourselves and go a bit outside the box for the concept, so overall glad it seems to have panned out to some degree ha.
Also big shoutout to Deathman for writing and recording some stellar tracks for the game - I have found myself going back and listening to them even outside the game ha.
Really cool concept for the idea of a virtual pet, never would have thought on making a town be the pet! Clever!
(Also I saw that you had problems with the AI working on web, I also use Godot and my AI also doesn't work on the web build but I figured it was just a setting in the HTTPRequest Node, if you uncheck accept G-zip, which comes activated by default, it does work on web exports too, just in case this helps you :D )
Yeah, we're compressing with gzip to deflate/inflate our content so things run a bit smoother and the db storage is a bit less, but I'm thinking we'll have to tune it a bit if it causes a performance hit reading/writing. Thank you for the tip and hopefully neither of us forgets it for the next time! ha.
Gzip was the issue fyi and I totally overestimated the size of the days we were transferring, it really won't be an issue ha (plus a race condition where the game was attempting to fetch events before it was authed that wasn't an issue with the windows build 😑)

There are too many things coming on the screen quickly, not letting me the time to understand what's happening compared to other games that are more AFK based. I have choices to make but I don't get the impact of each variable (reputation, community, ...) and some effects are hidden by the scroll bar that I can't go down because it only appears when I hover the button.
Though, why ask our email ? feels weird for a jam. And sad it didn't work on web.
Yet I like the art design, and enough ideas to make a more complex after that can be addictive.
Thank you for playing and for your feedback! In the options, you can slow down the afk timer - we kept it quick so those playing didn't have to wait too long to experience a few cycles while testing a bunch of different afk games, the current speed is definitely too fast for a production game!
The email is for retrieving your saved progress/town - not typical for a jam, but a feature we decided was worthwhile for allowing people to play across browsers/devices that a simple session token wouldn't allow. We also thought there would be people that wouldn't care to sign up for a prototype so we added the guest login so player's wouldn't have to worry.
I'm glad you enjoyed the style and the start of the overall system! I hope you continue to check back in the future!
Also note, there is a mechanic that when you log back in, the afk events that occurred while you were away are displayed to show what happened while you were away, the display of those couple events are certainly something we could polish the presentation of to not overwhelm the player, on further reflection of your comment, that's a really great feedback, thanks!
Was expecting pets, but a village is ok :)
We thought a spin on "pets" would be fun! Think of it like a big ant farm :D

Currently aware that the web build does not show events, but the download build is fully functional. CORS/Godot/Web Build issues are being worked on and will be updated when uploads are allowed again!
