Really cool concept for the idea of a virtual pet, never would have thought on making a town be the pet! Clever!
(Also I saw that you had problems with the AI working on web, I also use Godot and my AI also doesn't work on the web build but I figured it was just a setting in the HTTPRequest Node, if you uncheck accept G-zip, which comes activated by default, it does work on web exports too, just in case this helps you :D )

Yeah, we're compressing with gzip to deflate/inflate our content so things run a bit smoother and the db storage is a bit less, but I'm thinking we'll have to tune it a bit if it causes a performance hit reading/writing. Thank you for the tip and hopefully neither of us forgets it for the next time! ha.
Gzip was the issue fyi and I totally overestimated the size of the days we were transferring, it really won't be an issue ha (plus a race condition where the game was attempting to fetch events before it was authed that wasn't an issue with the windows build 😑)
Both are fixed now and ready to be uploaded when we can! Thanks for the lead!
