Very interesting! Making an RTS for a jam is a really bold decision. It’s fun and genuinely entertaining, though it does have some performance issues that made it run a bit blurry on my end. There’s also a pathfinding bug near the cut-down trees that caused a couple of my skeletons to get stuck and teleport all over the place. Aside from that, it’s a really solid foundation for a pretty cool game :) Keep it up!

I've never seen an RTS combat style game in a game jam. It was a neat idea. This was pretty ambitious for a game jam.

The footsteps got old quick as they were way louder than everything else and there was no game music. Once the units were engaged, you could not pull them back - which was frustrating because the rogue units ran faster than the warrior units. It would have also been nice to select groups of units by type, and assign units to groups. As it was, there was no tactical gameplay. It was just consume and move forward. The game lagged so bad I quit right before I faced the giant knight, but that may have been my videocard. I've been having problems with it. Finally, the controls were a bit difficult to use and the motion blur when rotating the camera made me a bit nauseated.

There's a lot of potential here. You have the foundation of a fun game!

Thank you for your extensive and thorough feedback!

We had the basics locked and loaded (and many more ideas we wanted to implement) but ran out of time—so we launched it as is.

Can you please provide more detail about the issue you encountered with the SFX & music? Both worked great during testing, and we'd like to dive into the issue.

If (or when) we'll add more features, we will take your remarks into consideration :)

Cheers!

Ok, so I went a played it again. The music at the beginning is a banger, but by the time you get to the first groups of rogues and knights, the song ends and there's no more music. It doesn't loop or restart after some silence. The game is long enough that by the end I had forgotten there was music. I had also forgotten about the TV at the beginning. (I just adjusted my score for the music and theme up.)

For the SFX, they were fine when the music was going. When there's no music the incessant tromping of boots just got on my nerves. And the combat sounds seem to be at a lower volume level than the walking sounds, so in combat when troops are still moving, it felt hard to hear what's going on. Maybe that was intentional?

Congrats on completing your game! I like the gameplay of drag selecting your troops and then clicking where you want them to go. I didn't see any controls mentioned in the game description or in the game itself. I think that it would be helpful to let the player know first. But overall nice job.

Thank you for your replay!

Congratulations on submitting the game! I really liked the intro cutscene. The main systems of selecting and directing the soldiers are great and feel solid. However, the game lacks a clear purpose; you don’t really know why you are doing what you are doing. It feels like you have been dropped somewhere and left to your own devices.

I’m sure you ran out of time, but hey, the core system is solid and ready to build upon. I would be happy to see more content added to the game. And by the way, the game looks really, really good!

Thank you! We did ran out of time, so your kind words mean a lot, and we most certainly will take this into further consideration :)

This game reminded me a bit of overlord, i liked the mechanics  and style, i just wished there was more level, i think you have something cool here, maybe add some different units based on what you killed. Great job though!

Glad you liked it!

This was our first time trying an RTS game at such a short time, so getting positive feedback about the basics we've laid out means a lot!

We actually have a longer demo level and other units already implemented, but time ran out and there were bugs, so we had to make a decision :)

Perhaps we will be able to fix 'em real quick and upload the more polished demo version.

Appreciate your feedback!
