Wow. I'm really impressed by the audio design! nice choice of sounds. slick animations and all around vibe. You made this in 5 days?? well done!
This game is extremely fun - I ended up unlocking almost everything in the talent tree! The design is also fantastic, the visuals are gorgeous and the UI is super slick.
While playing, I thought it could be fun to have a journal or book feature where you could read paragraphs or notes once you've finished a book, just for extra flavor.
Amazing execution overall. I've never played a game like this before, so now I have to check out Nodebuster. Really impressive job with this!
That's super kind!
i wanted to reveal the book slowly, but it got dropped to low priority.
I am trying to add it to the second jam submission, I hope i dont have to drop it again.
If you liked this one, you have entered the world of micro incremental games, there are many, they are all cheap and condensed experiences. Highly recommend!
Really satisfying UI, loved the advancement of the skill tree too. I don't play incrementals much, so I'm ashamed to admit I didn't realize for a while that I was supposed to be picking up the resources and thought completing a word gave them to me automatically 😅 So, I got stuck on the first chapter slowly buying upgrades and ended up too powerful I think for the next ones once I did figure out how to properly play - at that point, I never seemed able to pick up resources from power words, the chapter always completed before I could. Might be more of my own incompetence that got in the way there, but nonetheless I enjoyed the atmosphere and music a bunch, the way it ramps up as darkness falls is super cool.
Thank you !
The balancing is very rough, I honestly did not expect people to play more than 5 min :P.
It’s got good atmosphere and is cleanly executed. I am however confused on how it relates to the theme and didn’t find the loop particularly engaging.
Thanks for the feedback. It uses "masks" as "it hides a secret", maybe a bit of a stretch.
I understand you dont enjoy it, incremental clickers are not for everyone (it is a "numbers go up" kind of enjoyment)
I see a Nodebuster-esque incremental and I start foaming in the mouth. This is a really sick take on it too, you completely nailed the tone and atmosphere. Visuals look great and polished, I especially love the effect on maxing out a skill node, very satisfying. The gameplay and speed of unlocking upgrades is pretty well paced as well. The incredibly minor nitpick I have is the 'Session Ended' text being a different font from the rest... And that's it lmao, needless to say I'm hooked and I'm very much looking forward to the finished game. Great job on this!
Thanks! very appreciated!
As a Nodebuster player, I would appreciate any additional feedback
Well if I'm to critique this: this mostly comes down to taste but I do feel the difficulty difference between prestiges/chapters are lower than I would have liked. I beat chapter 2 and 3 back to back the moment I beat the first, then the next 3 or 4 chapters after that after I did my upgrades, and I don't know.. I personally prefer a slower early game in these games where you really have to work for those first few prestige points since it makes it much more rewarding to get those big upgrades. But like I said, it's mostly a taste thing, I know a lot of people would prefer the faster pace and I eventually came around to it too
Very true. I was actually surprised people reaching prestige 20+ so fast.
I also did not want to make it "too hard" to avoid losing people for the jam, but the progression should be steeper.
