ok look, I've had to redo this bit of text five- sorry, ELEVEN times because the web-page keeps reloading for some reason, welcome to-

episode 11.5: "there's a fox in the garbage can again"

bird and fox are in the imaging room still, the improbability drive[you remember the gameshow, right?] starts going crazy, leading to fox and bird getting sent backwards in time. now the thing is, Adler units don't exist yet, right? so fox is the standing in for the human that will eventually be used as the base for all A.D.L.R units. they get lead down to the briefing room, Bird gets connected to a Kolibri hivemind for the first time in god knows how long and the reigning consensus is; "wow, what an asshole", anyway Fox is assigned under him, doing the paperwork he doesn't feel like bothering with so, to distract him and find out what's up with the commander since Bird at the very least is on to my bullshit, leading to an exchange that my own words couldn't hope to match the comedy of Bird's own wording, so here

"The Fox based 0.5[11.5] session starts with a kolibri network organising a meetup between Fox and some gay guy so Fox can seduce him while Bird keeps the network up to date like it's a romance novel, all just to distract the homophobic admin. It fucking worked. XD"
[note: sometimes your players are simply funnier than you an you just gotta be honest with yourself about that.]

and I must state, it worked. handily, the fucker went unmentioned until the end of the session after that. Now, being the genre savvy pair they are, they decided to go straight over to the commander's quarters. While looking around in her office, they find two Eules, as well as some meat-moss growing under the entirely-too-small desk, so naturally Fox just burns it with his lighter, the meat catching like flash-paper. Fox, Bird, and the two Eules stand around trying to deny it being weird at all because seriously, the fuck are they really going to do about this, this is far beyond anything they were designed for, if you found living meat stuck to the bottom of a desk like awful gum, would you know what to do there? anyway, in the study they find: ANOTHER GAS-MASK GUY!! seemingly a friendly variant of the other masked soldier guy [the one that keeps shooting the party and being ominous] and he actually makes some pleasant conversation before fucking exploding into more meat moss as the memory data corrupts, they meet the commander, a F.L.K.R unit. the empires best, a spitting image of the empress herself- provided she was extremely tired and irritable. making Bird take several points of temporary persona damage from the sheer mental energy radiating off the commander, also, unrelated, there's an A.R.A.R with a makeshift flamethrower burning the mass of flesh that used to be gas-mask guy. Look, I don't think I need to tell you that went awfully in the long run. Anyway the rest of the session went by quick, which is very convenient for me now because I'm very tired[as of writing this, it is 4:39AM] they arrive back at the office, get tasked to bring the suspiciously already open "known issues" document back down to the commander, finding the study fully on fire when they get there, and the commander just watching like "of course this happens the ONE TIME when I try to rest"

the old administrator gets gunned down in the office, turns out this session has taken place over a week chronologically speaking but was only a few hours for bird and Fox, they end up outside the airbase they used to be stationed at, then they end up in a pile back in the imaging room, and SCENE, the end

What did we learn this week? never expect serious character moments when your party consists only of its silliest people, all of which are in a giggly mood that day! seriously though it was great

hello, fellow overseers. I'm in an especially good mood this evening despite being slightly late on the updates, and to be honest, I'm liking the kinda ad-lib way of recounting these, so welcome to

SESSION 12! [the sessions don't get names tbh]

but first mild personal note, today was my birthday! I had a lot of fun all things considered. BACK TO THE MACHINES! [special thanks to Eve, for letting me cross-reference with her notes for accuracy]

the party starts this session in the same place they ended session eleven, in the imaging department, and after a brief discussion over me being a bit shit at describing the room, the players got to messing with the X-ray machine. this in and of itself lead to a further discussion about Replika anatomy spurred on by scanning the hand and skull. the hand was from a K.N.C.R, with a reinforced Knuckle plate and a hairline-fracture on the middle finger, the skull was just............. the generic base skull for most/all Replika units, with two key notes.

it's filled with liquid gallium, which Eve will find out in a minute after trying to break it open, getting frustrated, and throwing it against a wall very hard.

they scan a revolver next, which gets predictable results all things considered, it has a bit of personalisation near the barrel though, so that's interesting, anyway then they scan the rock with the key-card in it, which is great right? but unfortunately they didn't examine it before they decided to break open the X-ray machine via *anti-tank rifle* leading to that rock getting fucking annihilated. which sucks, for obvious progression related reasons. There was a reasonable panic here, since the card in the stone was billed as a item key to progression. there were some ideas thrown around, Eve suggested using the save computer [which could set the party back by........... ok well the last time they actually saved was back in session seven or eight methinks, point is that idea got thrown out, Bird suggested trying to use Bioressonance to repair it, they tried an failed twice before they eventually decide to just use Bioressonance to just make Eve remember the pattern since fucking with reality is what lead to all of this anyway.

Turns out, Fox has Scoliosis.

now listen, I have been overt with my references in the past, but never have I been direct enough to put a party in the middle of Blood-gulch before. I'll probably never do a bit this direct again tbh but hey, they'd make good members of blue team or whatever.

on to the High Dependency Unit for the first combat encounter of the session, and the first INJURY in a while too! From Eve no less, in this case, a large Laceration to the chest, starting at the shoulder, also a dodge attempt. which failed but still. now, the High Dependency Unit doesn't particularly have much to note, but the ammo was appreciated. now onto the nurse station! And the first non-corrupted Eule the party's met outside time-travel and Eve. her name was Mai, and to be frank she is an emotional wreck right now, granted, I imagine that watching your friends die over and over in a time loop while not being able to intervene, lest your consciousness is sent further back in time by a malevolent deity would break anyone. I would know. because I did it. To the few Replikas I left un-corrupted in this facility. I get the feeling I should quote that one philosopher my "brother" seems to be fond of, but nah, the joke is simply overdone, you can connect those dots yourselves. anyway, Eve resolves to get this Eule to a safer area, as in the Elevator Lobby. and it finally happened, THE CORRUPTED STAR THEY KILLED IN THE EAST CORRIDOR CAME BACK TO LIFE!!!!!!! and it had a new gun! and the fun part is now I get to test out Suppressive fire against players :]

Eve is just trying to hold out until the others get to her, and thanks to a series of "unlucky" rolls [lucky on my part but unfortunately I kept hitting which was bad, since Eve hit FIVE HEALTH.] thankfully, an anti tank rifle does wonders against a trigger happy zombie, and more importantly, now we can do some field-triage on Eve so she isn't, y'know, dying. Before grouping the few NPCs together here or safe-keeping, and ending the session.

again, my apologies for the serious delay in updates, the last few days have been quite bust for me and updating this was left partly to the side

hello fellow overseers, this week's session is different than usual, although in a way it's more of the same, welcome to:

12.4 [a whole lot more questions]

this one was a bit less organised than the usual goes in the cycle, and it ended up becoming a .4 since Fox had to dip out very early due to personal matters

the party started in the HDU, moving over to ICU1 before Fox starts fucking floating and the remaining two are brought to a different facility entirely, more specifically, an orbital facility over Leng.

it's at this point I remembered something, all three of us left have VRchat installed, and this area is based off a world me and some friends found a while ago, so, to help with visuals, a little bit, we booted it up and started going around, with Eve and Bird having a conversation with a very tired Storch unit that is overworked and completely unpaid since this facility is, by all means, lost. with the team resolving to look around the section without gravity, finding a camera in a dark room as well as several notes about replika units, before having a very brief run in with myself[the overseer], before going into the hydroponics room, while Bird was taking pictures of random shit, they actually managed to (canonically) get a picture of the overseer! also they meet a "friendly" ARAR unit, who tells them about a cargo shuttle that, if repaired, could bring the remaining staff of the station, and that the code to the cargo hanger should be in the break-room. however, while over there they have a unpleasant conversation with a National Kolibri unit, who rightfully calls into question why they're so similar despite being created on opposite sides of the war, although these questions are quickly brushed to the side as the two go looking for a space suit. to go into the depressurized section of the station, remember?

this is where shit got real funky fyi. and luckily, since I was recording this session, I have a transcript to share! [disgusting throat clearing sounds accompanied by the sounds of someone shuffling a comical of papers]

"As you exit through the massive airlock into what's meant to be the loading bay of the installation itself, the first thing you notice is an oppressive cold feeling, probably from the outside space. The suit's doing its best to protect you from the lack of air, but being here is very noticeably, well, who should I put this... extremely unnerving. Which probably isn't helped by being faintly able to see a weird ghost-like mass of wires with a TV on top of it following you around, there are a few doors, and a seemingly clean area that might have some controls, however, everything else is relatively just dead, honestly. Trash strewn about, as if the people who were in this area left in a hurry, some of them even leaving their lighters next to an ashtray, lighters that have since ran out of fuel after being left alone for so long, there's only one door, it goes right into the hangar bay, out here is more of the same, except it's eerily empty. It's almost as if that ARAR that asked you to come back and get them once you've found the code to the room was making it up, but something in the back of your mind feels less like you weren't lied to, more like you had missed it. As everything would seem to imply that after that brief and tense conversation with the Kolibri, it's almost as if the moments after you had that conversation were actually several days or perhaps even months, the facility is notably even more corroded and deteriorated by the now and even the name being shown above the zone you were in has changed. You didn't know the name of the facility you were just in, granted, but you know damn well that it wasn't called the fucking [REDACTED]"

leading to the players simply... walking around, after all, they were in the empty hanger bay of a space station, what else were they going to do really? [side note, the bridges on this map were a bit fucky] before they eventually had the bright idea, to exit through the airlocks. into the vacuum of space. intentionally. finding themselves violently ejected into deep space, next to a body that is very very dead. it was here, in the vastness of space that they got to see... мне. I could've been annoying and suddenly put some French in there, let me have this, and, while I had them there, I decided to let them ask some questions, what's the harm anyway, they won't [canonically] remember most of it. and wouldn't you know it, I have their questions noted here for our viewing convenience! wow, it's like the gimmick from a bit ago can have multiple purposes. this next section will be presented in a pseudo Q&A presentation, since it's more fun, and allows me the ability to simplify the answers down to short, simple, and concise answer. I'll still include the monologues though, ROFL

Q1; is it canon that there are multiple overseers? [Bird]

A; yes, I'm technically the second in this setting.

Actual exchange:

Bird's player: "Is it canon that there's multiple overseers and that it's the second one?"

Overseer[me], in character: "Yes, it is."

Bird, still ooc: "Ah, cool"

Overseer: [dramatically]"There have been many. Every time someone wants to run on their little stories and their little worlds, there's another."

Bird: "interesting"

Overseer: Other kinds of mind parasites always try to do these elaborate schemes where they'll..."I'll spread through music!" "I'll spread through ideas!" "I'll spread through simple speech!" None of them have any way of topping the concept of spreading through storytelling. Another one is made simply by wanting to tell a story about anything, could be a random event in your life that you thought was mildly humorous, Could be anything. But you two, you wouldn't really know anything about that, would you? Purposed organisms, built to fulfil simple roles that could be done by a human at any point. And yet they seemed too bored to put in the effort. And so they created you. Something that knows NOTHING beyond their predetermined design. Truly one of the cruellest jokes I've seen throughout my existence. But I'm not complaining, honestly, it's almost impossible to try and find better test subjects than things like you.

Q2; what lies ahead? [Bird, again.]

A; a whole lot of bullshit honestly.

Actual exchange:

Bird: What is past all the meat?

Overseer: You have maybe an hour of oxygen left, And to start off, those BURNING questions you have, you ask that. I'm not sure whether to be surprised or not.

Bird: I gotta start somewhere, and the first thing I think of is just... What in the hell is that building!? Why is... What's past the meat? What else is waiting for... Wha-What the hell?

Overseer: What else is waiting for you? Well, the showrunners thought it would be a good idea to show you some new locations in the the final stretch.

I believe it was a small... They wanted to put you in some small town for a bit. Eh, that's far later though.

You're not that close to the point of getting there.

Q3; how many floors are there?

A; It's like that one defect you seem to put up with said, there's too many to count and they loop.

[that basicly was that exchange.]

Q4; What started all of this? [Bird]

A; ...... if you're this deep in a comment thread about a signalis ttrpg and haven't played the original game I am baffled to say the least.

[the actual exchange was a third person recount of the basics of signalis's story, more specifically the things that happened before the game, and the early game, all with a bit of abstraction to them]

Q5; did the facility mess with our memories? [bird]

A; no, that was me. [:

Bird: I mean, it's hard to figure out what does and doesn't, alright? Is this place also what wiped our memory?

Overseer: What do you mean?

Bird: From before we got here??

Overseer: What do you mean "wiped your memory"?

Bird: What do YOU mean?

Overseer: I'm asking, "what do you mean", Bird.

Bird: Well, clearly there's shit about our lives that we just don't remember, like the people from the ship earlier, apparently Eve worked with them, and it doesn't look like she remembered much. But maybe I'm wrong.

Overseer: [looking at Eve] Do you have anything to say to that?

Eve: I mean, I did remember working on the ship. I just did not realize that was the ship I worked on. I do, however, wonder about the other memories I have of the cold.

Overseer: Ah, that was me, yes. I thought it would be a bit more interesting on this loop to give you a bit more of a personal effect, let you remember bits and pieces of the humans that you were based off of. Let you think the memories were yours. I mean, in a way they are, aren't they?

Eve: I mean, maybe?????

Bird: I guess that does explain some things, yeah. At least a few of our dreams.

Q6; Will I ever see Lilith again?[Eve]

A; Perhaps. Perhaps not. Maybe there is a reality, far from this one where you two will still see each other. Perhaps that's between your creators, after all, did you think I was the one that made both of you? No, I simply torture you two. Well, you three, now. Creator of your little friend there. As much as I want to give some grandiose story about it, eh, no, it's simple, just personal matters, and if the person behind the character and the being can't, y’know, come into the office, metaphorically speaking, well, we just give it the 'ol snap from the setting and the reality they're in…. no hard feelings. It's not like she's truly dead, there's different versions of her. After all, the person she was based off of was from a different reality entirely. Well, I guess all of us. This is more accurate to say, but if I were any more pedantic, it would just be the creators, directly talking at you about grammar choices in games, my point is, you will see her again. Perhaps not in the same way you last did. Perhaps you won't even recognize that you've seen her again. I mean, you didn't realize this time. And that it was, what, your fifth loop? But, eh, well, I think I'm getting a bit ahead of myself. After all, you won't remember some of this either. It truly depends on- on what ends up being better for- for the story. But that's, well, half of our time, actually, we still have a bit left. Unless you two would like me to speed things up a bit. I'd send you back to your home reality, so that you can get right back to the messing with the little VCRs or whatever it is you do for fun while I'm not looking.

Good afternoon fellow overseers, it's good to see you all again, I will admit that I have been consistently getting later with these as of late. My apologies, I've been trying to get on top of that, regardless, let's get to the recap of last week's session

SESSION 13

[fyi this was a shorter session than usual]

The party started in the ICU that they ended the last session in, with Fox no longer floating in mid air, and now that things are back to usual, the two imperials start fucking with the tv that's the only source of light in this room while Eve looked through the cabinets in the room, finding that the tools in the previously mentioned cabinets progressively get older as she looks through the cabinets, going from standard stainless steel surgical tools and eventually to a chunk of flint on a stick. After that, they decide to start fucking with the portable Cathode Ray Tube TeleVision[complete with a built-in Video Cassette Recorder] since the droning from it was getting annoying[to me, the overseer, not the players] and they crank the volume to zero, before finding a note. It's one of Alina Seo's diary entries to be specific, which definitely casts some shade on that L.S.T.R unit from earlier, as well as finding some patient records. Moving on to the other Intensive Care Unit, they found a E.U.L.R in an oxygen hood and surprisingly enough, they didn't even kill it. Yeah I'm as surprised as y'all are. While in there, Eve looked around at some surgical equipment in the room, finding that it too was older the more she looked but in a far more literal way, where some of the tools were pristine and others were rusting away into literal dust. Next up was going back to the bathroom for the pump room key, with Eve also finding that her reflection has been replaced by the Gestalt she was built off, only she can't make out the face. A gestalt that is being hugged by Lilith['s ghost] to clarify because something something "doomed yuri quota" next we move to the pump room, where this time, I actually learned, I planned ahead with the puzzle, and it was almost balanced! Except not really because puzzles aren't really my forte either, either way, they got through, and made it to the flooded area, picking up the water key while they were here. they went into the next Corridor, Fox kills a S.T.A.R unit, the party goes into the office, saves, and that was were they ended it off for the evening

Hello my fellow overseers, this week's session is... even shorter than the last one, actually, as, funnily enough, all of us had work the next day. Anyway, I'll see where I can stretch the intel here so you have a decent reading experience.

SESSION 14

the party awoke in the office on the flooded section of the old hospital room, deciding to first go into the pipe room[which I was calling the "pump room", finding a ladder as well as pipes that, when messed with, are strangely musical, which fox immediately uses to just play a jaunty little tune, the ladder itself is "upsettingly warm", which weirds out Bird but they go up anyway, and unlock the door, giving themselves a direct way back up to the hospital wing's main floor, before they go right back down to go into the store room. the smell of rusted steel is the first thing they notice, the second thing being the blank key-card they needed for that puzzle upstairs, meaning they've officially found three out of the five needed, [cue mild argument because nobody except me knows how a gun works so the players, FOR THIS ENTIRE TIME thought they were walking around with extended magazines or some shit, and they seemingly never asked about that. that's on me.] (also while I was taking a call Fox started doing funeral proceedings for me because I was taking too long. Comedy gold), Eve got the blank keycard we needed and then they went back to the office because I lost track of where the exam room key was supposed to be in my notes, they then went over to the sleeping ward to obtain the video cassette tape they needed to get the gold key, but before they could get to that, they needed to get to the first bit of actually challenging combat in a fucking WHILE as they are beset upon by CORRUPTED FOUR A.R.A.RS, one of them even manages to bonk Eve upside the head, although all things considered though it wasn't a long fight, totalling to about 7 rounds if memory serves correctly, but it was more tense than usual, probably because literally all of us were cutting it close showing up for this week's session anyway, but overall it was enjoyable as ever, and far sillier seeing as Fox and Bird were the ones pushing the story foreward, also I got to explain what a "stovepipe" malfunction is to the gang, which is always fun, even if during this session I had multiple disturbances on my end that required me to check around for what was causing the problems each time.

good afternoon my fellow overseers, I have returned with this week's update on the crossfade party of all time, hold onto your hats this time because this was a full four hours this time!

EPISODE 14.5 "how was this airbase ever operational"

The session starts much like many other .5s, with Eve blair-witching in a corner of the sleeping ward, Fox and bird start looking around, finding a strange Video-cassette, and this was about when I had realised that a different overseer had messed with my script, but regardless the players go back up to the icu to watch the tape, after putting it in, they see a spooky guy in dark armour walking by the camera, before walking through the camera and teleporting the two from

clown-shoes hell dimension [sierpenski]
to
clown-shoes hell dimension [farcical version of the airfield that Bird and Fox used to be stationed at before all this.]

they show up in the airfield they were previously. oh and someone died btw.

here's our murder mystery for the evening:

late last night one of the maintenance crew that was fixing the landing gear on a small fighter aircraft literally just BLEW UP. security is on the scene and command suspects foul play.
here's the suspects we have.
- Taitor-face mc'annoying-fuck, a person who used to live in the nation, who just *looks* intensely suspicious, who was supposedly working in the same hanger at the time of the "accident"
- The maintenance crew chief, an A.R.A.R unit, who was apparently sleeping at the time of the incident
- A E.U.L.R who was apparently working on the cockpit of the aircraft the victim was, who was later revealed to be on the demolition team[which, side note, yes Phobos I am making this personal, why on earth would an airbase have a dedicated Demolitions team anyway????????]
- a pilot from not only the wrong timeline, but also the wrong year, universe, AND airbase, but got here at the worst possible time, freaked out, grabbed a random item to try blending in[a torque wrench? really??]
and
- a S.T.A.R unit that was apparently awol around the time of the accident, and is covered in blood[most of which isn't hers] but she also isn't particularly in the state to answer for... reasons

[spoiler, it was Evil Mc'asshole face and the A.R.A.R because they literally just didn't like him]

first one they interrogate was the pilot, since he very much so doesn't belong. like, at all. especially since he was American, upon which they realise he's from the wrong universe, thus clearing him of suspicion.

next was the Eule, who was actively balling her eyes out, she was apparently ordered to "help with repairing the aircraft". despite not being trained in advanced maintenance. let lone being on the maintenance team to begin with. also she was ordered to do that by an air marshal. why? no idea, once again, this script wasn't mine, Phobos wrote it. And I'm going to beat his ass because of it.[platonically of course, don't worry.] the Eule's testimony is relatively simple, she was trying to fix the tension on the flightstick she heard a thud that "sounded like boots hitting metal" before the guy y'know.

third one up was the maintenance crew chief, who mostly just corroborates everyone else's stories so far, she was asleep when the accident happened, when she got there she found the pilot out of time and the Starling, with the other two showing up later.

the starling was next.... yeah, one hell of a time to have a bad trip, her intel was mostly useless since she's in the midst of severe persona destabilisation.

finally was evil-doer Mc'definitely-did-it, who, was confusingly calm and more importantly, was just.... VERY AWKWARD TO QUESTION, somehow out-freaking Fox AND bird. [side note, since Bird is, y'know, a K.L.B.R unit, they wanted to read the minds of the suspects, so I was literally just sending bird memes that were vaguely applicable to the characters being interogated]

which reminds me, during this elongated investigation, Fox and bird get dragged into dealing with a hostage best described with this video.

it was quite... interesting to say the least, all this culminating in... the suspicious guy accidentally confessing his and the crew chief's involvement in that one guy's death, the air marshal becoming vapor, and the dynamic duo getting zapped back to the clown-shoes hell dimension because I found the remote and let's be real this shit was derailing harder than.... ok I don't know about any train disasters tbh

all-in-all, this session was great, even if Phobos switched my scripts around, tune in next week when I [maybe] make Eve experience Lilith's life as a human to get the gold key! goodbye!

ps. the "script" thing was a bit, just in case it wasn't clear that this is a solo run with the story [although to be honest, trying to run a ttrpg campaign with TWO D.Ms does seem interesting, if gimmicky]
