It's an interesting idea, but I for the life of me could not figure out how the bird gas detection worked LOL
But if you polish the bird mechanic I think this game can be really good!
I kept dying in the room with rats, and every time the bird would cry out in a different frequency. At the start I thought chirping = gas, but I guess not...
And also, when I respawned, I lost the key that I brought with me from the previous level, and I don't think I can get further without it, since there's 2 doors on the rat level...
Very cool game, I liked the audio and visuals a lot. Good overall spooky vibe, I don't like caves. I wish there were checkpoints, dying after getting through a bunch of platforming and starting at the beginning of the level was pretty punishing
Understandable, there are checkpoints at the start of each level but that one's the longest (and probably hardest). Thanks for trying it out and leaving a comment!
What a fun game :D Love the idea of having the bird to detect gas. The visuals are also great, love the “2D”/Sprite 3D Style. I made it to the second floor and then exploded after using the lighter near the colorful gas 😅 That was most likely a stupid idea.
Thanks for giving it a try and sharing your experience!
I finished this game and this was such a fun playthrough, i absolutely could not understand the bird beeping mechanic but it's so cute i shall overlook it, i kinda just freeballed my way through most areas and it worked so i'm very happy my random bullshit worked even if that wasn't the "intended" way, i really love this game and i think the only thing missing would be some more grotesque horror elements, i felt cold at my feet as i travelled through the dark corridors but i was sad to notice that no big scary threat was heading my way somewhat, some more ambient sounds would be a very interesting factor to generate even more anxiety in such a claustrophobic setting! I absolutely love this game (and birb).
Thanks for the kind words and for playing the game! We had plans for an otherworldly entity that stalked you through the levels and into the UI of the game itself but he had to be cut for time.
Love it! Poor bird!!! Otherwise, very well done :)
Thanks for playing and the support! (and don't worry too much about the bird, he likes being helpful)
Love the aesthetic, I got decently far but kept dying which was a little frustrating. The art is amazing though
Yeah, I can see how that could be a turn off (especially for a jam where there are so many other submissions to try out). Glad you liked the art and thanks for giving it a play!
I like the limited color palette and low-poly graphics. The idea of using a canary like this is quite original in a game (although I realize it has a historical basis). I did feel a little bad for my feathered friend, though.
Yeah, I'm surprised it hasn't been used more. Thanks for playing and the feedback!
the art of this game is very good i realy like the pixel art hands it was prety fun tough i didnt get very far because i dead like 20 times in the pit confused on how to progess and the movement feels very slipery making the parkouring not feel that great tough i realy liked the art and the creativity also justice for the bird
Thanks for trying out the game! Sorry to hear you didn't make it very far but I really appreciate the feedback
