i am speechless honestly, the music is out of  this world i love it  LOT, the story made me cry a bit, the game design is also amazing. and the gameplay is simple and smooth

Developer(+1)

Thank you! It means a lot to me that the story and other aspects were able to move you to that level!

Submitted(+1)

i enjoyed this!! i love the colours, i love the story, i love the fight sequence music. im not sure if its supposed to be that way, but your gun will shoot on its own once leaving the hospital. but i love all of this! the monochromatic blues are near and dear to me!

Developer

Thank you! Glad you like it! And yes, the gun has auto-shoot because I want the combat to be vampire survivor-like (and because too much left click make my finger hurts lol)

Submitted(+2)

cool game!!

Developer

Thanks!

Amazing, I was very immersed till the web version decided to crash right at the end, really wanted to see the rest, I will give it another go and see how it ends, but yeah I also liked the music and how it fits the overall vibe and story! great work!

Developer

It is right after the protagonist placed the gun, right? If yes, then that’s it. That’s the end. In the Window version, that’s supposed to be a quit app command, but you can’t really quit if it’s a web (I guess?). I might update it to return to title or add a quit button after the jam ends. Anyway, thanks!

It was when the protagonist was talking to her friend after they got finally managed to get communication, unless that wasn't the end and I assumed it was. I'll give it another go on the executable version.

Developer

Yeah, that wasn’t the end. Might have to see why it crash like that. Does the web give you error message?

Submitted(+1)

It just froze, music still running, probably more of a softlock than  a crash.

Developer

Sorry for that. I’ve never saw that bug before. Will see what I can do.

Really great storytelling and music! And the gameplay is fun too!  I do like the monochrome color palate, though it did actually take me a second to realize my health bar was on the bottom since it blends in with the environment. Nice work!

Developer

lol the down side of using single tone throughout the game. Thank you!

Submitted(+2)

Misaki :(
I'm glad the gameplay was easy enough for someone like me to beat so I could see the story :)

Developer

Yeah, it’s easy on purpose. Glad you enjoy it!

Submitted(+2)

Really and truly well made - I loved the amount of story to gameplay personally! The music and the sound of the bugs dying are going to live rent free in my head for awhile. Y'alls sound design is so addicting to listen to. Point and shoot games like this one aren't typically what I play, as I suck with them, but yours was forgiving AND had a great heart tugging story. 10/10!

Developer(+1)

Yeah, it's forgiving cause I want it to be more story and less skill-based. Thanks for liking it!

Very cool atmosphere you created, really lovely game!! The color palatte is a perfect choice, the silouhette drawing of the two girls during dialogue scenes was really cool, the sfx and explosion when killing a bug were all things that added to the game imo. The different songs were solid and fit the desired moods well. I found the story to drag on a bit at times, so maybe reducing the number of total text boxes could help make everything a bit tighter, but I enjoyed the relationship between the two characters and liked your decision to make the ending sad rather than the expected "everything turned out alright in the end" thing. Good job and fun entry!!!

Developer(+1)

Thanks for the detailed feedback!

Submitted(+2)

That combat music is going to be stuck in my head for weeks man.

Developer

lol thanks!

Submitted(+1)

cool little game the top down look reminds me of Zelda on Gameboy for some reason the gameplay is good and music is dope great work.

Developer

Maybe because of the pixel arts. Thank you!

Submitted(+2)

Nice job! The music was quite soothing as I eradicated those relentless pests.

Developer

Thank you! Glad you enjoy it!

Submitted(+2)

Oh man this one had really good music! The story was captivating and I really love to see how other people approached top down shooters for this game jam also! The pixel art was down right gorgeous too

Developer

The shooter part was supposed to be a cherry on top and the story was the main course, but looking from other comments, seems like that is no longer the case. Thank you!

Submitted(+1)

very realistic take on the theme. and really good pacing, not once did i feel tired of reading through. and the music was just the cherry on top. just real nice altogether.

death is an opportunity, to accept the death and move on

Developer(+1)

Really nice interpretation of the message from the story! Thank you!

wtf who are you? This is so amazing! I'm actually speechless. It was so touching and pretty with impeccable vibes <3
This was actually also very insightful for me because I want to make story based games but I always end up using too much time on the wrong things. Do you have a background in music? that's the toughest thing for me to figure out how to do well but yours is so good. And the color scheme was chef's kiss.

Developer(+2)

Thanks a lot! Your reply really made my day. I'm actually just a programmer with no background in music, but I always passionate about cinematic music and have been observing how they did it for years. You see how those music in games, movies, animes, or whatever always enchant the mood in those medias? That's what I'm trying to do in this game. Maybe I actually have ADHD cause I've been thinking about music throughout my daily life a lot lol.

So when I make music for the game, it's either 1. I already have the general idea of music I want to make in my mind, even before the dialogue or story is written, or 2. The dialogue is already written, but the emotion of that scene need a change of mood, so I just daydream a bit and it kinda comes out naturally. I also have to experiment a bit when making the song in FL studio, like the combat music in this game was supposed to be simpler, but then I tried some sound that I thought would sound cool and it turned out even better!

For the color scheme, I figured that using only blue shade would give the game that "night feeling" and it also make sprite creation much easier, cause I don't have to worry about any other color (thanks Reddit for the advice about limited color palette). It also save me some development time.

I'm not sure how to give advice about music, but if you've never learn about it before, I recommend start learning how to play piano, cause music theory make the most sense on piano (FL Studio even use piano when you "draw" the note in a song.)

I've never been very artistically capable and my older brother is actually very talented so I always admired and enjoyed different elements in media that I liked but convinced myself over the years that it's out of my reach (and I developed somewhat of an inferiority complex (ᵕ—ᴗ—) ) so I'm trying to combat it and learn to do all these stuff from music to art and cinematics but you definitely got potential with these things. From the palette to the silhouette styled framing and all that good stuff. The game was really epic and I even played you last game and you definitely got a creative mind and can add a lot of flavour to relatively simple ideas so keep doing what you doing <3

Developer

You too! Keep practicing and getting inspiration from the internet and I’m sure you will get better! (I mean, I draw silhouette because I can’t draw actual character with detail yet lol).

I totally didn't get invested in seeing on where the story was going to go or anything... *Kicks rocks with head down* I don't totally also want more story... or anything~ xD Great entry! Super impressive for just a few days of work!

Developer

Totally lol! Thanks for playing!

Submitted(+2)

Good story and the combat wasn't bad either. Would be interesting to see a continuation.

Developer(+2)

Thank you! Might add some form of continuation or prequel or something in the future. There are so many way I could continue the story (including making a totally new game but with the same characters!)

Submitted

that would be so sick

Submitted(+1)

Beautiful game, story was well written and captivating ❤︎ gameplay felt smooth too!

Developer

Thank you so much! Glad you like it!

Submitted(+2)

Wow this is gorgeous! I could play this for hours!

Developer

Omg thank you so much. Never thought it would have this much replayability lol.

Submitted(+2)

Really cool!! Their conversations made me sad in like a good way.

Developer

Thank you! Yeah, that mood is kind of what I aim for.
