I see spawn rate has been mentioned a lot so I won't bring that up.  But I will say I was fairly disappointed to get new party members only to find they all just had the same basic heal skill.  Perhaps I didn't level them high enough, but I was able to get through the game without anyone learning skills.  But I think the combat could be made much more enjoyable by giving everyone their own unique flair.  I did get a chuckle out of people being surprised to have strangers in their homes despite them being infested with all sorts of monsters.  I'm not sure the vampires were the real issue here haha.

Developer

Ahhhh yeah, Idk what happened there because I gave them other abilities, but for some reason they didn't end up in the final project, very odd. Thanks for playing and all the advice, I really appreciate it!

Neat concept! I had fun playing, though I think the spawn rates are wayyyyy too common. Keep up the good work!

Developer(+1)

Yay thank you! Yeah I'm definitely going to change it after the jam, I was afraid it was going to be too often. Thanks for playing!

i really like the concept and execution of this!! i like the simplicity of it too, it reminds me of older games with the formatting. the game is jam packed with lore and silly dialogue with is fun! the only feedback i have is to maybe change the monster spawn rate, it was a little difficult navigating around when i'd be attacked every few steps, but i was super thankful that the escape option worked! i also think a health bar for the monsters would be useful too! but this was really fun and i enjoyed it a lot!

Developer(+1)

Thank you so much!!! Yeah I struggled deciding how often the spawn rate should be, I definitely will make it less common, I think it's too often as well. I didn't even think of the health bar until someone else played my game yesterday and mentioned it ๐Ÿคฆ. I'm so used to playing Octopath Traveler which doesn't display the health either ๐Ÿ˜‚. But it's definitely something to add to make the experience better. Thank you so much for playing and all the feedback, I really appreciate it!

A fun use of narrative exposition, well done world building, and vampirism! Who could ask for more from a game? Wonderful job!

Thank you so much!

They sure took vampirism pretty well.

Developer(+1)

Haha right? I was gonna make it where they fought it more but I already had so much dialogue I didn't want to overload the game with it, maybe if I continue to work on the game I'll flesh it out more, thanks for playing! ๐Ÿ˜„

Cute concept!! I had fun with it, I love me some dramatic vampire plot (with silly side characters to top it off!)

I like the take on your theme! It was super fun - The lore and story was extremely in-depth, sometimes felt very long in certain parts and could be spread out over long points of the game so dialog doesn't feel like a gameplay stun-lock. did an amazing job world building, but I think there was a chance to visually and story wise make the game a bit more concise! you did an awesome job keep goin!

Developer

Thanks for playing! And the feed back! ๐Ÿ˜

interesting take!

Thanks!

So, I like the story concept and I think vampires fit the theme well!
Sadly, because of the very long intro and too many random encounters, I didn't get very far. They slowed down the game's and story's pacing. Two suggestions, at least for the dialogue/narration, would be to cut back on repeating information that was already said and trying not to over-exposition. That way, players can get to the heart of the story faster and you can sprinkle in more information/context throughout; allowing more of the story to unfold gradually. Otherwise, I think this game has potential with some refining! Good job!

i only played until i got a game over because the game requested my wifi and gps location? i only found 1 post on steam about this that said it might just be a windows thing.

Dang I had no idea this was a thing. That sucks. I found something on Reddit about it. Something like Windows assumes that my game needs every permission because I never actually set any real permissions for it. It says go to settings, disable the access to your location and disable notifications about it is apparently the fix? Stupid Windows.
