Really enjoyed the game, foudn it very addicting actually that it stopped my own game progress for a bit. Job well done i would say!

AAAH THANKS!
I think it’d be amazing if Jacksepticeye played and got the high score in it.
Get back to your game haha!

PLEASE PLAY THIS GAME!

a team went hardcore on reporting this game for using a AI cover.

I really hate AI art and didn't play the game for the same reason. I realized Black Mansion genuinely didn't know that they cant use an AI cover and felt real upset that they got  disqualified for the jam.  (they thought the rule only applies to in game art)

This person has put so much time and effort for their game and it reminds me of FNAF mini games! its great!

this person learned how AI effects artists and what people think about it after getting kicked out for not really paying attention to the rules. they know the value of their own art and others effort and art now.

I'm one thats down for change and rehabilitation and I see it happening here!

I am very happy that the cover is changed and Black Mansion is given a second chance because their game is actually good.

I know most of the reports arent even because folks care about AI vs artists,  but rather cuz they want to do anything to get other people out the race and get first which is a shame.

Aw thank you so much nee <3

Submitted

would love to know whos the artist for the cover?

Developer

I used ai for the thumbnail but the game itself doesn't contain any ai, do you think I should change it?

Submitted

yes. because some people are putting  a lotta effort for their covers, hours and years of practice~ your cover is what's promoting your game so its both inviting and making people who realize its AI not wanna play.

Developer

the rules didn’t specify that the itch.io page was included in the use of ai I never used any assets in my art. well it’s too late now my game got disqualified.

Submitted

I'm sorry this happened. I think its always best to stay away from AI almost always~ dont risk it~ even if it was okay to use AI art, a lot of people in the game industry are heavily against it and simply seeing an AI cover which is the FACE of your game can just piss people off.

Maybe try contacting the mods and ask if you can change the cover and be given a second chance? I feel like you learned your lesson the hard way and hope you're able to make it back to the jam with changing your cover~

Good luck and keep us posted!

Developer(+1)

hey nee thank you for your support and help, if it weren’t for your positive energy I’d have been really beat up about this but you helped me to get the game requalified.

The dev used AI in the picture. Report the AI as it's incredibly unfair to people who put actual effort into their art this jam. Game itself is ok I guess. AI ruins it. Don't use it.

Submitted(+1)

I will try to say it again, since the devs for this game deleted my comment. The game itself seems solid after playing it myself. But using AI for the promotional  game icon is just sad (and heavily against the rules). Why not show of your game art? Nobody would´ve judged you for that.

Submitted(+1)

Dang that sucks. I thought the game icon looked so good and I never thought about it being AI.

If you look closely, the iris of both the guy and the zombie are way too weird for being pixel art and the title (Bloom Beyond) in that picture also has some very questionable parts in it. I believe that at least one of the towers' tops from the castle on the right side is also curvy.

It makes sense. Thanks for letting me know!

Good one!

Great game! I really like the mechanic, it was super fun to play with. Did get stuck a few times but the resets had my back. I liked the music too. Great job!!

Developer

thanks Uami ❤️

I posted this in the Discord, but now I see itch lets you attach images, so I'll put it here. Idk why this popped up when I tried to download it, but I had seen you talking before, so I trusted it, but just wanted to let you know in case it detracts others from playing your game.  I love the concept of this game. It fits the theme perfectly. I had a lot of fun making a bridge out of my dead bodies lol. I did accidentally press X instead of Z a few times and ended up getting myself stuck surrounded by my dead bodies around the checkpoint, but that's my own fault. Good job!

Hey thanks for the heads up. Glad you enjoyed the game haha  I’m gonna try yours now

Submitted

That's because it's using AI. Don't encourage people to play it.

Submitted(+1)

Really? Dang that sucks. I had no idea. Thanks for letting me know.

I liked it! Very simple mechanics but still really fun. I enjoyed the dark atmosphere of the game, I felt immersed in this world as if I were dreaming. Congrats! If you want to try my game too, that would be amazing!

Developer

yeah man thanks haha will do.
could you tell me, did you get a flagged message when you downloaded my game?

Submitted

Yeah I remember getting some kind of warning downloading your game but just ignored it

Outside of getting stuck on my own dead bodies, this game is pretty interesting! The graphics are simple but nice! the platforming was nice, felt like an old flash game, but I was not able to finish it, some levels were too difficult for me, which is not a bad thing at all, it was doable, I just gave up :P. This idea was mentioned in a discord call, so I immedietly discarded my idea on the first day, cuz I had the same one xP. But I do like the way you implemented it, the colors becoming inverted is a nice touch.

There’s something poetic about using death as progress — but here, it feels more like a technical hiccup than a revelation. The concept of resetting yourself for an advantage is clever, yet without control over your past selves, the game quickly collapses under its own mechanics. What begins as a puzzle soon turns into clutter — ghosts of yourself piling up with no real purpose and having to restart where issues could be solved with simple code.

And then there’s the music — a looping track that quickly wears thin, punctuated by a shameless plug for a SoundCloud. Nothing kills immersion faster than a developer cutting through the experience to hand out their business card. Focus on the craft first, not the credit.

There’s talent here, but it’s tangled in noise and self-promotion.

2/5

What's poetic is your ability to sound like a thwob and yet make some good points. Thanks for the feedback, Yes the game is a technical puzzle game, if you can't handle clutter then be more sparing and thoughtful but I do like the idea of using the corpses in some control way.
I can see the game wasn't immersive enough for you yet somehow you took the time to get quite far in it, sounds like you were immersed, Also the self-promo isn't a business transaction, it's my own personal passion for music, I thought I'd use it in a way that "immersively"  allows the player to choose their own music.
Thanks again The Reviewer.
I'd give your review a 1/5

Love the concept but if you spam die on spawn you can get softlocked in your own collider, also you can just make an impassible wall of your self
Edit: Need to have that restart level instruction in the first level

Submitted

Cool concept. Couldn't get past the very tall level though.

Developer

if you want to skip the level I made [C] button skip :P

Very cool, the music was good too. :D
