How does your game meet GBJam's theme?
In each stage there is an "unlucky" wave which triggers unlucky effects of all 2 and 3 cards. 🃏
The lucky cards 7 and A take advantage of having chosen 2 and 3 cards!

What an awesome little game! A competent use of the theme, with stylish art and triumphant music. The final boss is especially charming!

Enemy bullets were hard to track sometimes. I think they could have stronger outlines.

The audio is mixed a little loud; it regularly clips above -0 dB in the later music sections.

Fantastic! Great work!

Gotta leave a comment on the music, it's so neat.

At first I was thinking the music, even if it was good, was missing something. But then you used that to have space for the music to evolve through the game, nice touch!
I also generally enjoyed the gameplay, I found myself leaning on dodging the enemies a bit more than I would have preferred but I guess that's a part of the balancing act of having a buff to the firing rate without making it totally over powered. A bit more variety in weapons,  enemy types or obstacles would have been great, but in a jam you never get everything you wish for. Over all a solid jam game, you got a lot done in the time you had available.

I don’t usually like side scrollers, but I enjoy your game and the theme is really well done.

awesome side scrolling shooter. my favorite part tho was how the song changed and evolved as you progressed through the game. pretty fun overall.

Nice game, loved the palette swaps.

Cool little game, the short burst between upgrades and the palette switching on each level was a really good effect. Solid gameplay.

Great visuals and a really fitting soundtrack and SFX! I enjoyed the simplicity of the gameplay. I did run into an issue later on where no more enemies spawned and the game just continued endlessly, but overall I still really enjoyed playing it! :)

The unlucky wave concept took me a few runs to fully understand, but it is a cool addition to this kind of shooter. Interesting to get cards like one that adds to all stats when unlucky, and in general it felt like there was some fun variety with builds.

I like the use of the shifting colors with each level too, I think that along with the well paced/consistent sounding music really helps to give some drive forward and a desire to see the whole thing.
