Pretty cool! I like that the runs are dynamic enough so you can't simply learn a correct sequence. And this rhythm game feels really good, such a well polished game!
I'm not sure if this is an intended thing, but the way the kernels fly, they overlap the previous/next ones which makes following the next visual clue harder. I also have the feeling that late misses sometimes also directly leads to a miss on the same button press (or are they actually colliding mid-air?). And lastly, the lack of a beat on the first notes in the beginning was a bit misleading to me for the first runs.
Enough nitpicking, does "Stage cleared" mean there is another one waiting and we can pop some more corn rock soon? 🍿🎉

You’ve got a perceptive eye! The overlapping isn’t intentional, in fact that’s my biggest grip with the current build. It wouldn’t be fair for me to criticise Fresh since I do absolutely no dev work whatsoever! But it’s on the post-jam list, a document that’s steadily grown in size. For example, we’re debating the idea of including a practice mode! A mode that loops endlessly so you can pop to your heart’s content! But that may already be saying too much…
If there’s something substantial on our hands after this jam you just know I’ll be spreading the news everywhere! For now, at least, we’re seasonal poppers. Who knows, maybe there’s potential for that to no longer be the case?
Thanks so much for dropping by!
I really appreciate the constructive feedback! Not nitpicking at all. I wish I’d play tested the tutorial more with new players, and the visual clarity is definitely something to address. Popped kernels actually shouldn’t hide new ones (their z index gets pushed back to avoid this) but not a perfect solution 😅. Also if you hit a beat late, you’re hitting the next beat early, so a bit of a double whammy. Stuff to polish for sure.
But thanks for playing! Definitely eyeing making some more stages, see where it goes ^^
