Doesn't recognize at all, like it's not even there. I'm connecting via Bluetooth though, when I'll get home I'll try vired connection. I doubt it will fix the issue, but it's worth a shot

Ok, interesting. Let me know... I got an official reply from the tmeplate maker (though it has to do with unreal engine): "it should be XBox Controller, some old controllers and ps controllers won't work".

Thank you, that's very helpful info! My DualSense is basically a PS gamepad, so I'll try workarounds right off the bat! This saved me a lot of time!

Oh, nice to hear. Waiting to hear what happened and if you have enjoyed... By the way, I am not a developer and I made the game alone, so don't keep your expectations very high.

Dude, I got it loud and clear - you're non-developer, who just made a game for his kids in spare time as a hobby. My expectations won't spill out of that ballpark, don't worry about that.

I successfully added your game in my Steam ecosystem locally, but when I tried to map my own controls on gamepad through Steam Input, something really weird happened - the game partially tried to recognize my Sony DualSense as an Xbox controller for some reason. So it mixed my bindings with what was originally intended, but not for every button, only for some of them, so some buttons triggered double inputs at once XD It was a mess, but very funny, like I was playing slapstick comedy featuring Leslie Nielsen trying to fight various infected creatures. However, when I turned Steam Input off, it didn't recognize that my gamepad was connected.

I think I know a potential solution for this, it will require a third-party software called DSX and slightly more time. This software tricks your PC into thinking that your gamepad is a different kind of gamepad, including translation of Sony inputs into Xbox inputs. I'll try it next time and will report how it went.

I kinda have a feedback on the game itself, but I want to play it more to really have something of value to say, and it requires getting controls out of the way first.

This is an adventure in real life on its own!

Also I cannot say how much I am sorry it messed it up. By the way this software you are mentioning sounds a lot like x360ce I told you about.

I am waiting patiently for your feedback :).

Unfortunately, I don't think I will work on the eoiside 1 any more, I have to concentrate to the next, but nevertheless, it is interesting for me to hear.

(1 edit)

You don't have to be sorry for anything, man, triple A titles like Doom: The Dark Ages are the real pain in the ass to setup a gamepad in, this little adventure of mine was NOTHING, believe me. As I expected, DSX did the trick - now I'm seeing correct prompts for everything and can actually control the character. I made it to level 3 and then immediately got lost XD I've been to some nice vast open spaces with some thick cables laying around, periodically seen a small building or a structure, traveled a vast sea of yellow haze of some kind, and now I have no idea where to go. I only met one enemy, some minor arachnoid. Can you please point me in the right direction - where do I go from a start of the third level? Also, I ran out of shotgun ammo in the middle of level two and haven't found any since. Do I have to purchase it or something?

I have to say, your game has an insane amount of depth for a hobbie game - character screen, level up system, gun upgrades, different types of armor, various skills, interactive npcs - I didn't expect any of it! You must be a very loving dad. That's exactly what I would want from my game as a kid. I would also want it to have gore, but that's just me and my weird family of Doom and Quake enjoyers (a habit that starts at a very young age, I played Doom as soon as my dad managed to put his hands on the floppy, I was like 5yo at the time)

Oh, and one more thing. Is there any way to disable motion blur, maybe a console command or something? I didn't find it in the options.

Ok, great to hear! I am so happy you enjoy. You are giving me insane vibes of good energy. You are almost there. So if you killed the archnoids, then you can see the stairs in front of the fire of the engines. You have to get in and solve the small puzzle (nothing much but it has a twist in the story and is interesting).

Waiting for your input :)

By the way, most of this equipment was in the template. I didn't make it. I just used it, filtered it, etc. I mostly made the story, the first level, putting the enemies etc, used free assets to assemble the spaceship (yes the structure is a spaceship) and the intro. Also, of course, a lot of research to find the proper items, etc. It sounds easy, but it's tough. But still, not all credits go to me. Most of the credits go to the template maker.

You must decrease post processing effects. Also I would reduce antialising.
