Hello! Welcome to Feedback Quest 8! My name's Hythrain, a co-host and one of the streamers for this event! This feedback is being written live as I stream your game! If you're interested in seeing my live reaction, let me know and I can send you a link to the VOD once it's posted to YouTube!
So my normal approach for any game in these events is simple: I get the game, make sure it's not a virus, then play it with as little information on how to play as possible. This way, I can judge how intuitively someone can figure out the game. Only if it's obvious that I need to read more will I do so. I note this so you can get a sense where some of these feedback comes from. In addition, I want to note that feedback and rating are different; don't use this feedback to gauge what I'll rate, nor should you view my rating as entirely indicative of my feedback
Woooooow. WOW! That was intense! I got to the second monolith and WOW did that get crazy all of a sudden! It seems I have a lot more to learn before I'm good at this game, but WOW is it fun and insane!
Alright, let's get a little more granular. First, visuals. This game looks amazing. The visuals are wonderful, everything looks amazing. I legit can't say much else besides this. The sound is also good, so nothing I can add there.
The primary gameplay loop is fun and engaging, keeping me on my toes. I was legit enjoying every moment I was playing this. The one thing I'm concerned with, however, is how there can be too much stuff to keep track of. There are so many different power-ups and effects that I never felt like I could recognize what each thing did based on looking at it. Usually I don't find this a good thing, though, as I like to be able to tell at a glance what each thing does. I also wasn't sure how I felt regarding how many upgrades also brought negative effects.
I think what bothered me the most was how I couldn't use items the way I would expect to be able to. For example, say I have a potion. I couldn't just double tap the item slot number on my keyboard to use it, instead being forced to click on it with my mouse. Similarly, I had to click and drag hammers onto towers to use them instead of being able to go up next to them. I also found the game's detection of what item I'm trying to interact with a bit finicky, particularly with the Jar of Greed. I also had an instance where I clearly had access to an area with a chest in it, but the game wouldn't let me reveal the area up because it wanted another area to be clear first.
In short, most of my issues with this game are small. The game is otherwise a lot of fun. I'm probably going to play it some more after my stream ends, since this is my last game for the evening.
I'm not sure how close you are to release on this, but if you've still got a ways then I hope to see it again in a future event!
P.S. Is it possible to pull up towers without destroying them? I've not tested it yet as I worried that would be the case.
